Featuring the latest and greatest quality in pristine audio recording on the go, and a whole host of pro features that everyone can appreciate, the brand-new Zoom H6 is also the first-ever handheld and field recorder with interchangeable microphones. The H6 can record up to four channels of high-quality audio simultaneously or up to six with an optional expansion module. This kind of quality and innovation is what professionals like to see in their gear, and as a result the H6 has received no less than 7 industry awards.
Perfect For Any Situation
The Zoom H6 is so adaptable, you no longer have to make do and mend when out on live recordings. This recorder has a groundbreaking feature that allows you to swap mic attachments for the situation that you're in. Much like a photographer would keep a number of lenses in their bag so that they always had the right lense for the shot they want, the H6 gives you the ability to swap out a mic set to ensure you get the best take possible. This is especially great when you're out on location and you can't anticipate how the recording is going to progress.
In your H6 pack, you get the classic X/Y configuration with an adjustable angle(90 or 120 degrees) so that you can choose how wide you want the stereo field. However sometimes a stereo configuration is not ideal. If you want true mono compatibility, or complete control of the stereo image for video or television productions, you also get the Mid- Side microphone attachment. Combining a directional "mid" mic with a Bi-directional "side" mic you have a range of possibilities. If you want a clean and clear recording of your source, like a presenter, you can just use the mid mic. However if you want a bit of the ambiance from the location, you can mix in the bi-directional stereo side mics to get a flavour of the location you're in. What's great is that you can mix and adjust the relative levels to ensure you get the perfect recording.
You can also supplement these mics with two more fantastic mic attachments that are sold separately. First off is the SGH-6 shotgun capsule that gives you a highly directional mic recording. Perfect for zooming into and targeting a single sound source for a clean and clear take when you can't get really close. Bear in mind though, the source will start to sound a bit distant if more than 3 feet away.
The H6 comes with 4 XLR/TRS audio inputs in addition to the main interchangeable mic. however, the final mic attachment that you can buy separately allows you to add 2 additional mic attachments, So if you're keen on using your own mics or your recording guitars or the output from a mixer, you have a total of 6 inputs! Not bad for something you can just sling in your bag.
Studio Quality Recording
The H6 utilises the latest Zoom technology in audio preamps and processing. This results in an ultra-low noise floor so that you can get a quality take, every time. You get awesome features like Pre-record, Backup record and Auto-record, which try to make it impossible for you to mess up. So if you miss the first second, or you have the gain up slightly too high, or you just want it to automatically record as soon as the band start playing, the H6 has got you covered. Nice to know someone has your back! Essential effects like compression limiting and filters are all there for you to make use of, along with a whole host of pro- recording features. of course everything you do is shown on a large full-colour LCD display.
That's not to say that everything is behind a menu though. It's always important to make sure your most used features are right where you need them. The H6 has been designed for the professional. so you have real physical knobs for gain and pad settings on each input, so that you can get setup quickly and easily without making others on location sit around waiting for you or setting levels for ages!
And if you're looking for even more control than what's on the H6, you can plug it into your computer and use it as a quality audio interface for your DAW.
Expand your recording setup further
I've already mentioned that you can get shotgun mic & input attachments for the H6, but there's some other cool stuff that will make your life as a sound engineer easier. If you like to video on your DSLR camera, why not mount the H6 using the HS-1 hot shoe mount, that will get your sound quality matching the stunning visuals.
Or maybe you want to mount your H6 onto a mic stand for perfect placement. You can get the MA2 Mic clip adapter, which not only allows you to easily mount onto an average mic stand, it's also a great handheld grip to reduce handling noise when you're the one providing placement.
If you're looking to record outside, particularly in windy places, a fluffy windscreen is an essential element to your recording setup. You can either buy the WSU-1 on its own or you can opt for the H6 accessory pack where you not only get the windshield, you also get a USB-type power adapter and a remote control!
