Back in 2006, The sE Electronics Reflexion Filter was a complete game changer for musicians and recording engineers who didn't always have access to the acoustically controlled vocal booth in a top studio.
The reflexion filter was the perfect solution to create a studio acoustic in any environment; yet it's such a great piece of kit, professional musicians started adapting the RF Pro for other uses.
Developing the Reflexion Filter for Guitarists
For years now, some of the top live sound engineers have been adapting the reflexion filter to use directly in front of their amp cabinets to isolate the amp mics from the other sound coming from the stage. It means that you can use mics with a range of different polar patterns, and gives a cleaner, clearer sound that's great for both the FOH mix and also when you want to multitrack a live show.
sE Electronics have acknowledged what a great idea this is by creating the GuitaRF, a specially designed reflexion filter that is perfect for miking up guitar cabinets in a variety of ways.
Featuring a customisable design that allows you to set up and phase align 2 microphones within 1 filter. You can set up a dynamic or small capsule mic through the integrated hole with rubber finned grip and then fix another mic to the adjustable mounting hardware and find the perfect spot for phase alignment.
Not Just for Guitar Amps
The GuitaRF comes with a dedicated base so that you can set the perfect height for a guitar cabinet, however the base can be removed so that you can attach the GuitaRF to a regular heavy duty mic stand.
As a result, you can then use the GuitaRF to record almost any instrument for a clean clear take. Whether its an acoustic guitar, the outside of a bass drum or just a few feet from a saxophone, it offers the ideal dual mic setup with minimal hassle.
