How many points will I earn when I shop?
We display the number of points available for a product on the product's page on our website. Normally we'll give you one point for every pound you spend, but watch out for double and triple points deals for even more savings!
The PRS McCarty 594 is among the Maryland company's most sought-after models. Now part of their core range, it remains a staple in the line-up, known for its soaring sustain, larger frame and vintage-style neck profile. This is just as spectacular as you'd expect a McCarty PRS to be.
McCarty History
The original PRS McCarty launched in 1994 as a guitar that took inspiration from the legendary Ted McCarty who built some of the world's most iconic guitars in the 50's and 60's. He served as a mentor for Paul Reed Smith and helped form some of the great guitars we know them today.
Modified McCarty Build
The McCarty is well known for being a bit bigger than a standard PRS with a thicker back and a fatter, more vintage inspired neck profile. This new version of the PRS McCarty 594 is a little bit different with a new Pattern Vintage neck profile that is as wide as the regular Pattern neck but slightly thicker with an asymmetric carve. This means that up at the treble side you have less neck in the way, while on the bass end you get a bit of a chunkier feel.
The big change to the neck comes in the scale length. Previous McCarty models used a 25" or 24.5" scale length. This one is a little bit different at 24.594" which increases string tension ever so slightly over the 24.5" version but still with that 50's single cut kind of response.
Low Turn Pickups
PRS's 58/15 pickups are a great choice for guitarists who want all of that classic PAF tone but with a bit of extra heat to help it cut through more in lead sections. In this guitar you have a pair of the new LT modified versions which have fewer turns meaning a lower output level better suited to clean and mid gain blues and rock styles.
