Product Description

Line 6's proprietary Variax technology has been around for years, and their latest Variax Standard electric guitar designed collaboratively with Yamaha is arguably one of the most versatile instruments ever made! The perfect partner for the professional guitarist, Line 6's Variax Standard is a flexible onstage workhorse and an all-encompassing tonal chameleon for the studio.

Variax HD Technology

The Line 6 Variax Standard's innovative Variax HD system provides instant access to a vast collection of electric and acoustic guitar sounds, with the ability to change tunings completely on-the-fly. And with the accompanying Variax Workbench HD software, you can create practically any virtual guitar imaginable with a host of tone-shaping parameters!

Classic Construction

Although the Variax Standard comes equipped with forward-thinking electronics, its construction is actually very traditional and provides a familiar feel for seasoned players. Featuring a lightweight Alder body, this balanced-sounding tonewood serves as an excellent tonal foundation for the trio of single-coils, and is an apt "blank canvas" for the Variax tech.

Joining the body is a bolt-on Maple neck, which adds brightness and ensures a snappy note response. Adorned with a slick Rosewood fingerboard, this material feels beautifully smooth under the fingers with the medium-sized frets striking the perfect balance between a modern and vintage feel.

Custom-Wound Alnico Pickups

If you want to take a break from the Line 6 Variax Standard's versatile modelling capabilities, the instrument comes with three custom-wound single-coil Alnico V magnetic pickups that capture every nuance of your playing with pristine accuracy. And if you want to go even further, you can also access over a dozen classic pickup types thanks to the Variax HD technology.

Man this guitar is something especially if you have a Helix. It can save you so much time. I have played it for a week now and have changed most of my Helix patches around it, copied some with special tunings just for a song. It's great. You can sometimes hear a digital ring especially when using very low alternate tunings, but with some careful sound shaping and EQ work you can get great sounds. I think I will be using this guitar mostly for headphone practice and covering songs. As with any Line 6 gear there's a bit of a learning curve if you want to use it to its full potential but it's worth it. The guitar itself is a Yamaha Pacifica, I personally don't like it but I guess I'll just grow into it. Amazing guitar, I absolutely recommend it.
