Product Description

Here's what Laney say about the Ironheart IRT60H:

A thoroughly modern sounding amp, high gain, lots of smooth compression and packed full of features, the IRT60H is an extremely versatile, aggressive sounding amplifier. Featuring a full 3-channel pre-amp with clean, rhythm and lead channels, plus a footswitchable pre-boost section. The IRT60H also features a variwatts control, which allows you to get the tone you are after at any wattage level without compromising your tone.

On-Board Reverb

On-board studio quality reverb. Reverb gives you a sense of the space that you are in. A dry guitar signal can sound a little dull. Adding the right about of reverb provides the guitar signal with ambience and brings it to life.

Vari Watts

The Vari-Watts control the signal level within the power amplifier, allowing it to be driven harder at lower volume levels. For full output power, running the power tubes at maximum levels, turn this control fully clockwise. To reduce output volume, turn this control to the left.

XLR-DI OUT

The XLR-DI out allows you to connect your amplifier to a PA system or recording interface, without the need for micing. It is fully balanced and features a level switch for -30dB (PA/Desk level) or +4dB (Line level) for driving powered cabinets directly. The XLR-DI out also features a ground lift switch is also provided for lowest noise performance. Unlike most other XLR-DI out, the Laney fitted XLR-DI out is post the output section of the amp.

Pull Shift on Mid EQ

Pulling on each of the EQ control knobs will shift the response of each control as follows: Bass: Deep - This extends the low-end frequency response, resulting in a fuller, heavier sound for lower notes. Mid: Shift - This lowers the frequency range of the mid control to give a tighter sound. Treble: Shift - This broadens the Treble control frequency response, to give a rounder sound to higher notes, especially when used with thin sounding pickups.

Its just way too loud (and not in a gets better with volume way) and the lead gain is far too fizzy/harsh (no matter what I do with any settings and pedals) for my tastes.....I am going to take it back and get an orange or a marshall.

Mr. Daniel Lewin7th Nov 2018

Great amp, good variety of distorted tones available as well as some good cleans. You will need pedals to flavour the clean channel a bit as it's quite plain in terms of timbre. Power cable is a touch sensitive but will stay plugged in when adjusted.

Excellent bit of kit (according to my son)

Very pleased with this amp so far - sounds great, easy to dial in a good tone and a great for metal and hard rock. I'd imagine this would be fine for gigging, although you may want to get the 120w model if you are doing bigger gigs. I'm running a LTD EC-1000 with EMG pickups through this and it is easy to get a good metal tone or a reasonable clean tone, although this is very much aimed at metal players as each tone knob you can pull out for an extra burst of power. Not bad for the bedroom as there is a watt control so you can dial this back so you dont need to play it too loud to get a decent amount of gain - so good for the bedroom player as well as for gigs. I'd say this is a good cheaper alternative to the Peavey 6505, and at around 1\3 of the price of this you are getting a quality amp for your money. Plus did I mention it looks great too? Switch it on and the red glow from inside looks amazing if you're a sucker for gimmicks like me! According to Laney Killswitch Engage and Matt Tuck from BFMV\Axewound and Kiko from Megadeth endorse these amps - all quality bands\players. The foot switch means you can effectively have 3 channels - clean, lead and rhythm and there is a boost function for the leads. It's quite heavy, but other reviews suggest it is easier than some other comparable tube amps. I'm just glad I discovered this amp and got shot of my Marshall DFX100 which on reflection was not much good!
