Product Description

Audio Kitchen’s Moof is a compact, guitar-friendly filter and envelope pedal that captures the spirit of the legendary Mutronics Mutator in a stompbox format. Built around an upgraded version of the classic SSM 2045 analogue filter, Moof delivers those iconic, squelchy sweeps and chewy movement that defined countless records, but now directly under your feet and ready for any pedalboard.

Designed in collaboration with original SSM designer Dave Rossum, Moof gives you studio-grade filter tone with the immediacy and simplicity guitarists need on stage. From touch-sensitive envelope quacks and synth-like vowel tones to hypnotic LFO pulses and wild external modulation, it turns a straightforward guitar signal into something far more expressive and inspiring.

Whether you are chasing vintage French house filter sweeps, glitchy industrial textures or subtle movement that just makes a clean tone come alive, Moof gives you the tools to shape your sound in a musical, hands-on way. With intuitive controls for cutoff and resonance, plus multiple modulation options, it is equally at home as a set-and-forget tone enhancer or the centrepiece of an adventurous effects chain.

Crucially, Moof is designed to drop straight into a guitar rig without the complexity and bulk of the original rack unit. You get that unmistakable analogue character, but in a pedal that is easy to power, easy to control and ready to be integrated with expression pedals, external LFOs and other control sources for deep, modular-style experimentation.

Classic Studio Filter Tone, Reimagined

At the core of Moof is an upgraded take on the SSM 2045 filter circuit that powered the original Mutator. By working with Dave Rossum, Audio Kitchen have created a filter voice that stays remarkably close to the sound of the studio classic, with rich harmonics, smooth sweeps and a musical resonance that never feels harsh. It is that familiar, record-ready character, but voiced to sit naturally with guitar, bass and synths alike.

Dynamic Envelope Response

Moof’s envelope filter section converts your playing dynamics into control voltage, so the harder you play, the more the filter opens up. With selectable Fast, Medium and Slow response settings and adjustable sweep direction, you can dial in everything from sharp, funky quacks to slow, vocal swells that follow your touch. It turns your picking hand into a powerful performance control, without needing extra pedals underfoot.

Built In LFO Movement

When you want continuous motion rather than touch sensitivity, Moof’s internal LFO steps in. Adjustable depth and speed controls let you move from gentle, almost imperceptible modulation that adds life to chords, through to deep, rhythmic wobble that pushes your tone into synth territory. It is ideal for ambient washes, electronic-inspired patterns or simply adding a bit of animation to an otherwise static sound.

Deep External Control Options

For players who love to experiment, Moof offers external LFO and expression pedal inputs. Plug in a compatible external LFO, keyboard or other control source to take over the filter movement and explore complex modulations beyond the internal circuitry. The internal LFO is automatically bypassed when an external LFO is connected, keeping operation straightforward. Add an expression pedal and you have instant, wah-like manual control of the cutoff frequency, opening up even more performance possibilities.

Features
  • Analogue Filter Based on Upgraded SSM 2045 Design - Moof captures the essence of the original Mutator by using an evolved version of the classic SSM 2045 filter, designed by Dave Rossum himself. This gives you authentic, musical analogue sweeps and resonance that feel alive under your fingers, perfect for everything from subtle tone shaping to extreme, synth-like effects.
  • Guitar Friendly Pedal Format - Instead of a bulky, complex rack unit, Moof arrives in a compact stompbox that drops straight onto your pedalboard. It integrates easily into standard guitar rigs, making those iconic studio filter sounds accessible on stage, in rehearsal or at home without any extra routing headaches.
  • Flexible Envelope and LFO Control - With an envelope follower offering Fast, Medium and Slow response options plus a built in LFO with adjustable depth and speed, Moof gives you multiple ways to animate your tone. Whether you want touch responsive funk, slow evolving textures or pulsing rhythmic movement, you can tailor the filter behaviour to suit your playing and style.
  • External LFO and Expression Inputs - Moof’s external control inputs open the door to deeper experimentation. Connect an external LFO, suitable keyboard or other control source to take command of the filter, or plug in an expression pedal for hands on cutoff sweeps. The internal LFO automatically disengages when an external LFO is used, keeping your setup clean and intuitive.
