Product Description

The ThorpyFX EAO Limited Edition Germanium Fuzz Pedal distils Adrian Thorpe’s favourite vintage fuzz circuit into a compact, pedalboard-friendly box. Inspired by his hand-built Burns Buzzaround specials, the EAO delivers thick, harmonically rich fuzz with long, violin-like sustain, comprising of three NOS germanium transistors and an on-board transformer for authentic singing tones.

Vintage Inspired, Modern Ready

The EAO captures the spirit of the original Burns Buzzaround circuit and adapts it for contemporary pedalboards. You get the chewy, saturated fuzz and singing sustain associated with classic British units, but in a compact enclosure with modern power requirements and robust construction. Designed to drop into your existing rig with minimal fuss while still sounding unapologetically vintage.

Highly Interactive Controls

Bias, Sustain, Tone and Volume are all carefully tuned to be highly interactive, giving you a wide palette of fuzz flavours from just four knobs. Subtle changes to Bias will alter sustain and overall feel, while Sustain and Volume work together to tame or unleash the pedal’s output. This makes the EAO a deeply expressive tool that can be dialled in precisely for your guitar, amp and playing style.

Transformer Equipped Flexibility

Thanks to its on-board transformer, the EAO is far more forgiving about where it sits in your signal chain. Unlike many traditional germanium fuzzes that demand first-in-line placement, this pedal is designed to sit comfortably anywhere on your board. That gives you the freedom to experiment and find the sweet spot for your setup without compromising the core tone.

Hand Tuned NOS Germanium Heart

At the core of the EAO are three NOS germanium transistors and a NOS germanium diode, each chosen to deliver the most musical, vintage-accurate response possible. Every unit is hand-wired and tuned, ensuring that the fuzz feels immediate, responsive and inspiring from the very first note. The result is a pedal that captures the magic of rare vintage fuzz boxes while offering the consistency and reliability of a modern design.

Features
  • Classic Buzzaround Inspired Circuit - Based on Adrian Thorpe’s favourite Burns Buzzaround style fuzz, the EAO delivers thick, harmonically complex fuzz tones that range from spitty and ragged to smooth and sustaining, ideal for classic rock, doom, shoegaze and experimental soundscapes.
  • Three NOS Germanium Transistors and NOS Diode - Loaded with three NOS germanium transistors and a NOS germanium diode, the EAO offers authentic vintage response, touch sensitivity and warmth, giving you a fuzz that cleans up with your guitar volume and reacts dynamically to your picking.
  • Highly Interactive Bias, Sustain, Tone and Volume Controls - The interactive control set lets you sculpt everything from thin, spitty textures to full-bodied gain monsters. Bias reshapes the character of the fuzz, Sustain sets how long notes sing, Tone moves from bass heavy to treble focussed, and Volume reins in or unleashes the overall output.
  • On-board Transformer and True Bypass Switching - The integrated transformer allows the EAO to sit comfortably anywhere on your pedalboard, while true bypass switching keeps your dry tone intact when the pedal is off, ensuring maximum flexibility without sacrificing signal integrity.
