Product Description

The BLACKBOX RECORDER is the first large-scale multi-channel recorder specifically designed for audio acquisition and capturing live performance.

Developed to solve the inherent problems of working with computer-based systems in a live environment, it provides you with a computer-free, high-quality solution for live multi-channel audio capture.

Whether you're looking at recordign that quick rehearsel room jam or an onstage live gig this could be just what you need to start producing your own recordings.

Easy to use

The BlackBox Recorder is designed to be supremely simple to use, requiring just the input and output connections, power and a USB drive before pressing the RECORD button. Its sleek front panel has an intuitive menu-driven user interface, touch sensitive transport controls, data wheel and function buttons. A foot switch input is also provided and can be set up to duplicate the record button function for hands-free operation. A full colour LCD screen and striking LED displays show all the information that’s needed in order to know exactly what’s happening at any time. A standard computer keyboard can be used to name recordings.

Backup features

A number of "fail safe" features ensure secure audio capture at all times, including playback lockout and a "Safe 'n' Sound" record recovery function that enables recorded audio files to be recovered after a sudden accidental loss of power, or forgetting to stop recording before powering off the system.

Here's what JoeCo have to say about the black box

The BLACKBOX RECORDER with Balanced i/o enables audio capture via a mixing console with balanced insert points or direct outputs. The three lower 25-way female D-type connectors are used as balanced inputs and the three upper 25-way female as balanced outputs. The unit can use the same high quality D-type cables as for the unbalanced BBR1, but these are not supplied as there are too many different types of termination (1/4" TRS, XLR male, XLR female, 25-way D-type, etc.).

In the same manner as the Unbalanced model, the BBR1B loops the inputs directly to the outputs via relays when in record or stop so that even a power failure on the BBR cannot affect the audio through the PA. Other BlackBox Recorder features remain unchanged.

The Balanced i/o interface uses high quality balancing receivers and transmitters and has been designed specifically for the BLACKBOX RECORDER to be fully transparent.
