Product Description
The Cabasa is a fascinating percussion instrument that has its origins in Latin America. In its original form, the vessel rattle consisted of the fruiting body of a bottle gourd, which was covered with a net of seeds or pearls. The Sela Cabasa, on the other hand, relies on the modern design with a cylindrical head and a surrounding profiled sheet. This sheet is in turn covered with ten tight-fitting metal bead chains that glide over the grooves in the sheet when moved and produce fine, pearly, rushing sounds.
Sela Cabasas offer a stable and durable construction made of black lacquered pinewood. The handle is also covered with soft foam to ensure an excellent grip even after prolonged use. Available in two versions with diameters of 60 mm or 115 mm, they offer versatile options for different playing styles and volumes. The many metal beads produce a distinctive, rattling sound through jerky turning movements of the handle or through rhythmic shaking of the cabasa, which fits perfectly into many different styles of music.
Like the maracas, the cabasa is often used for percussive accompaniment in samba ensembles, jazz bands, pop music and more. Sela cabasas are suitable for both studio recordings and live performances and are aimed equally at beginners and experienced musicians. In addition to being used in predominantly Latin American music, the cabasa has also established itself in music education and music therapy. This makes the Sela cabasas ideal instruments for percussionists, drummers, bands, ensembles and music schools.
