Product Description

Here’s what Andertons Say:

The Zildjian L80s are great, a very misunderstood product. It is an acoustic cymbal and makes a nice sound for what it is but these cymbals are designed to be quieter than regular cymbals. As a byproduct they make playing drums quietly fun. Most the time when you are asked to play quieter you are restricted and squashed. With these cymbals you can play as enthusiastically as normal. These cymbals are great for practice set ups or hybrid half electric half acoustic set ups. These cymbals even make talking during a rehearsal possible and feel a lot better to play than rubber pads or cymbals.

The L80 Low Volume cymbal is perfect for drummers looking for a quieter sound without losing the authentic feel of a Zildjian cymbal.  They are up to up to 80% quieter than a traditional cymbal.

It is ideal for practice rooms, drum lesson rooms, low volume gigs or any other situation where reduced volumes are required.

Through tireless research and development by the Zildjian Sound Lab, a specialized pattern was achieved to deliver the best of both worlds: musical sound and lower volume.  This state-of-the-art pattern is combined with a proprietary alloy and then given a unique matte finish that enables our L80 Low Volume cymbal to be up to 80% quieter than a traditional cymbal.

Great sound and good sustain despite all the holes. I use them with my Roland V drums and find them perfectly compatible with most volume levels on the rest of the kit. With the V drum cymbals the striking and thump of the heavy Hi Hat mechanism was almost as intrusive as the sound from the speakers. Now I have the perfect balance!

Decently quiet. The difference between annoyed and not annoyed neighbours. We've added these to an electronic kit and they give a much more 'real drum' feel to the kit. The only downside is that they are so quiet that the click of the drumstick is more audible as it hits the cymbals. However, I intend to mic these up anywya to give me the option to turn up when required

Perfectly musical set of cymbals with more tonal quality than you may expect, given the remit of being 'low volume'. They are quiet and easily useable (in an attached house) on the practice set I have. The hats are quite 'gritty' sounding but yield a good stick sound, a nice controlled sizzle and a well defined 'chick' when pedalled. The 14" crash gives a very splashy tone (as most 14"s do) and the 18" is very serviceable as a crash/ride. I was so impressed with the set I added a matching 20" which has become one of my favourite cymbals to play (and will be being taken out when gigs resume again). Using a maple stick the definition is very cutting and focused giving me plenty of time to muse on my slightly iffy technique! I could see these being used on some of the smaller acoustic gigs I do, rather than having to resort to Cajon all the time. Well worth checking out if you're looking for inspiration in your home practice routine.

For a domestic house they are brilliant and I can play to my hearts content and my neighbours never hear me.
