Gibson LG-2 All Mahogany Faded Electro Acoustic in Vintage Sunburst

The Gibson LG-2 was first introduced in 1942 during the “Banner” era and quickly became a beloved small-body acoustic guitar model that was renowned for its big sound. The LG-2 was initially released with mahogany backs and sides paired with red spruce tops, but due to wartime shortages, material substitutions were common. Gibson sometimes used maple backs and sides, and LG-2 models with mahogany tops were also produced. Now, Gibson is proud to introduce the new LG-2 All-Mahogany Faded, a modern reinterpretation of Gibson’s vintage all-mahogany models. The LG-2 All Mahogany Faded is constructed using solid mahogany for the back and sides, as well as a solid mahogany soundboard. The mahogany top is reinforced with traditional scalloped X-bracing, and the body features simple black binding on the top and back. The mahogany neck features a Rounded profile and is attached to the body using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint. The neck is capped with an unbound rosewood fretboard, which is equipped with 20 standard frets and adorned with classy yet straightforward mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The LG-2 All Mahogany Faded is fitted with a sloped, rectangular, closed-slot bridge made from rosewood. The bridge features a bone saddle, while the bridge pins are TUSQ®. Grover® strap tuners with white buttons ensure solid tuning stability and, along with the teardrop pickguard, add to the instrument’s vintage charm.

The LG-2 All Mahogany Faded’s all-mahogany top and body give it a warmer, rounder, and smoother sound than a guitar with a similar size and a spruce top, making it an ideal choice for folk, blues, and fingerstyle playing. The LG-2 All Mahogany Faded’s smaller dimensions also make it easier to hold than acoustic guitars with larger bodies. In a nod to the needs of modern performers and recording guitarists, the LG-2 All Mahogany Faded is factory-equipped with an L.R. Baggs™ VTC under-saddle transducer and built-in preamp. The L.R. Baggs VTC system features soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that are quick and easy for the player to access while remaining all but invisible to the audience. The inclusion of high-quality discrete electronics makes the LG-2 All Mahogany Faded stage and studio-ready from the moment you take it out of the included Gibson hardshell case, while taking nothing away from its attractive, vintage-inspired character and vibe. Construction

The LG-2 features an all-Mahogany body to deliver warm vintage tones. Despite its smaller size, the LG-2 has a rounded tone with a focused mid range. The Rounded neck shape feels comfortable up and down, and the Indian Rosewood fingerboard is adorned with Gibson's classic dot inlays.

Electronics

The LG-2 is loaded with an LR Baggs® VTC pickup for convenient "plug-and-play" amplification. The volume and tone controls allow for easy tone tweaking and are discreetly hidden away inside the sound hole, so as to not to detract from the LG-2's vintage aesthetics.  The LR Baggs® VTC also allows you to bring the LG-2 into your recording environment for easy and authentic-sounding recordings.
