Product Description

Fender’s flagship range just got better, introducing the Fender American Professional II series! The American Professional II Telecaster features improved tone thanks to the V-Mod II pickups and enhanced playability thanks to refinements to the neck and hardware making an already impressive instrument even better.

Roasted Pine Body

This Tele features a roasted pine body which is a less conventional option but still traditional nonetheless. Fender have been using pine since 1950 but now they’re bringing it back as a standard production option for the American Professional II series. Lightweight with a strong grain pattern, roasted pine is a great option if you want something different from the standard alder.

Refined Neck

The neck, however, has seen some refinements over its predecessor. The Deep C profile remains but now with a softer edge to make it even more comfortable in the hand. The neck finish has also been improved with a new “Super-Natural” satin feel to allow your hand to glide up and down the neck with ease. The neck heel has been sculpted for improved upper fret access and there’s a new asymmetrical, bevelled neck plate to match.

The fingerboard has the same great feel thanks to the smooth maple/rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges. The 9.5” fingerboard radius and narrow-tall frets make it a breeze to play chords and string-bends alike.

Improved V-Mod II Pickups

The American Professional series introduced the V-Mod range of pickups which were each voiced for their specific position. For the American Professional II Tele, they’ve been tweaked for improved clarity with greater twang, snap, and bite. These single-coils offer smooth cleans in the neck through to cutting, aggressive tones in the bridge and everything in between. The V-Mod II pickups have that classic Tele sound, just taken to the next level.

Versatile and Reliable Hardware

The bridge on the American Professional II Tele has been re-designed for improved tone and versatility. The bridge now gives you the option of top-loading the strings in addition to the usual stringing through the body. The top-loading bridge was a design that lasted from 1958 to 1962 and while it may have been short-lived, many see them as highly desirable. Fender give you the option to string it either way so you can decide for yourself based on your preferred tone and feel.

Another addition to the bridge are the new compensated “bullet” saddles. These brass saddles offer great intonation and greater flexibility in the setup of your guitar allowing you to adjust the tension and tone of each string to your preference.

From the moment I picked up my Fender Professional II Telecaster, it was clear that this was something special. The craftsmanship is impeccable, with a flawless finish and a neck that fits comfortably in my hand. The sound quality is equally impressive; the classic Telecaster twang is there. Whether I’m playing clean chords or pushing it with some overdrive, this guitar delivers consistently excellent sound.

What a purchase! I did a lot of research into the am pro ii and people were saying 'the price is too high' and that its mostly just for the Fender name. I've tested some telecaster models before at half the price. Was really wondering how much better this would if at all. I was not disappointed - it feels premium, it sounds professional level and its so simplistic in its design. Maple neck tele's have that brightness to them that really helps to cut through in a mix, but I am surprised at how gentle and warm it can be too. I bought the roasted pine body finish, and whilst some of my friends asked why I'd bought a 'coffee table guitar' - for me, I absolutely love it. Maple neck and roasted pine body gives it a pretty uniform look and it looks suitable for any genre.
