Is it a guitar, or is it a bass? The Burns Short-Scale Jazz Six Bass is technically both! Based on Burns' 1962 Jazz Guitar series models, the Jazz Bass Six is a spellbinding hybrid instrument that boasts the conventional string spacing and configuration you'd expect from an electric guitar, yet a long 30" scale length that almost reaches bass territory.
The result is a unique retro instrument that provides authentic '60s baritone sounds - delivering a full range of bass frequencies. Strung with 018 - 085 gauge strings, the Short-Scale Jazz Six Bass also comes equipped with Burns' renowned Tri-Sonic pickups and a responsive tremolo unit. It is a truly versatile instrument for all lead, bass and rhythm players.
Lightweight Construction
Burns' Short Scale Jazz Six Bass sports a light Basswood body that ensures balanced lows, lively mids and a crisp top-end; serving as the perfect tonal foundation for the bright-sounding Tri-Sonic single-coils.
Paired with a Maple neck, this material accentuates the highs even more to allow your playing to really cut through in a mix. The bolt-on construction also gives notes a definitive snap, so that you can play with plenty of articulation and expression - even on the rumbling low strings!
Burns Tri-Sonic Pickups
While Burns' unconventional guitars are adored by vintage aficionados, it is actually their Tri-Sonic pickups that are perhaps more renowned. Synonymous with Brian May, who fitted his iconic Red Special guitar with a set of Tri-Sonics, these pickups feature ceramic magnets and are constructed unlike typical single-coils.
The coil of each pickup is wound into an oval (rather than on a bobbin) and fitted directly around their ceramic magnets. Each pickup features two magnets joined end-to-end, which are mounted onto a flanged metal base that causes the magnetic field to be produced all around the coil and not just in the centre. This leads to a richer sound with plenty of harmonic overtones and sustain.

How do I use instant finance?
It's simple! Just add the products you want to your basket and click the "Checkout" button in your basket.
