The brand was formed in the 1960s by musicians and engineers who had one mission in mind: to create the highest possible quality professional audio gear.
The first landmark in API Audio’s history was the creation of the 2520 Discrete Circuit, which allowed founder Saul Walker to pioneer modular design with the creation of the 500 modules. API keep delivering the analog magic they’re known for with products like the 512C Mic Preamp, the 525 Compressor and the 550b 4 Band EQ. They’re also constantly expanding their range with products like the 527 and 529 compressors, as well as THE BOX consoles. These play a crucial role in everything, from production-ready demos to chart-topping hits.
