American Guitar Amps
American-sounding amps are generally more low-end and top-end focused than their British counterparts. American-sounding amps are more open sounding and generally 'bigger' sounding than British-amps might be.
This distinction is normally made by the types of power amp used in the amps which greatly affects how the speaker moves and responds. American Amps normally use 6L6 or 6V6 tubes which having more headroom and require more volume to compress and saturate. This is what makes these amps so good for crystalline, bold sounding cleans.
They also distort beautifully and those famous, huge rock sounds you love are likely to be from an American amp, cranked up to the max to give you those wall-of-sound tones!
