Product Description
The Does It Doom Baghdad is a full‑throttle tribute to Matt Pike’s early‑era High on Fire fury — a roaring recreation of the molten high‑gain channel from a Soldano SP77 preamp smashing head‑first into a thunderous Green Matamp GT120. Built in collaboration with Nick Williams of the mighty Dunwich Amplification, this pedal is all about capturing that unmistakable, fire‑breathing Pike grind.
Dual‑circuit dominance
Every single vacuum‑tube gain stage from the SP77’s high‑gain channel has been painstakingly re‑imagined as an op‑amp stage, nailing the original’s frequency curve and snarling behaviour. You get full control over Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence, letting you sculpt anything from tight metallic bite to room‑shaking doom.
Then there’s the GT120 side of the circuit — boiled down to two simple but devastating controls: Drive and Depth. Drive adds extra filth and fury, while Depth shapes the frequency cutoff.
Massive Tonal Range
When you pair up those GT120 controls with the mighty SP77 preamp, the whole thing just comes alive. You get a huge spread of tones — from tight, punchy attack all the way to a thick, rumbling roar that flirts with fuzz territory. And the best part? One single Volume knob is in charge of unleashing all that glorious, unrelenting power.
Huge sound, pedalboard‑friendly power design
Despite its monstrous voice, the pedal runs on a standard 9V supply, secretly generating an internal ±9V rail for loads of headroom and clarity. So yes — it’s loud, it’s huge, it’s savage… but friendly enough for your pedalboard.
Controls
- Treble: Brighten things up! This shapes the SP77’s high‑end sparkle, letting you add as much bite or sheen as you need.
- Middle: Your all‑important midrange control for the SP77 section. Push it for presence, scoop it for growl.
- Bass: Dial in the low‑end thump from the SP77 preamp. Tight and controlled or huge and booming.
- Presence: Adds extra top‑end edge and clarity to the SP77’s upper highs. Great for cutting through a mix.
- Volume: Sets the overall output level of the pedal. Turn it up for glorious lift‑off.
- Gain: Controls how hard you’re hitting the SP77 emulation. From gritty crunch to molten high‑gain mayhem.
- Depth: Shapes the GT120’s low‑end character with a high‑pass cutoff. Perfect for tightening, thickening or fine‑tuning the rumble.
- Drive: Piles on that extra GT120 dirt and aggression. Set it to zero to bypass the GT120 stage entirely and keep things SP77‑pure.
Features
- Eight‑knob, high‑gain powerhouse: Dial in seriously precise tones, perfect for crushing downtuned riffs and earth‑shaking bass lines!
- Limited edition ‘Green’ finish: Inspired by the iconic tolex colour of its Matamp GT120 lineage.
- Relay-based, true bypass soft switching: Silent, reliable switching with a sealed relay for long‑term durability and zero tone colouration when bypassed.
- Adjustable LED brightness: An internal trim pot lets you set the status LED brightness exactly where you like it — from subtle glow to stage‑blinding beacon.
- Premium components: Built using Neutrik input/output jacks, a Lumberg power jack, ORMAT knobs, Alpha pots, a sealed relay, a metal LED bezel and mil‑spec aircraft‑grade wire for unmatched reliability and performance.
