Product Description
The Cranborne Audio Camden EC2 is a two-channel, 1U preamp that offers both high-quality transparent and vintage-style sounds. Based on the award-winning Camden 500, the EC2 uses the same preamps and Mojo analogue saturation circuits and features two reference-quality headphone amps for monitoring.
Transparent Preamps
The EC2 utilises the same acclaimed Camden preamp technology as the Camden 500. These preamps provide the EC2 with an exceptionally clear and transparent tone across a wide frequency range with low noise and low distortion. From boosting low-sensitivity microphones without adding noise to capturing sharp drum hits without phase shift, the EC2’s preamps can handle it while maintaining clarity. Each preamp features a 12-way gain switch which makes stereo matching for a stereo mic setup a breeze.
Switch To A Vintage Tone
While the Camden EC2 offers excellent transparency, with the Mojo circuitry you can switch to a more vintage sounding thick and warm preamp tone. Mojo has two distinct modes, Thump Mojo for a transformer-based sound, or Cream Mojo which emulates a tube-based preamp sound. Mojo features a variable saturation control so you adjust how much of that vintage tone you want and when you turn it down to Off it is true bypassed so it won’t affect your pristine transparent sound.
Monitoring and Connectivity
Each preamp features a reference-quality headphone amp for direct monitoring, and you can also create mixes with external playback via the Aux input. The Camden EC2 features a hi-z circuit as well as ¼” jack Link outputs on each channel. This makes it great for re-amping guitars and basses, allowing you to capture a wet and dry signal using the two preamps. The EC2 is also C.A.S.T. enabled which means you can use it with Cranborne Audio’s 500R8 or 500ADAT for expanded audio routing.
