The Mini Chief is a 3 watt beast of an amp. After many requests for a small format amplifier that could be used at home, in the studio, and even at small gigs, we decided to produce the Mini Chief. The Mini Chief features Mercury Magnetics transformers and is handwired using terminal strips. The stock tube compliment is 1x12AX7 and 1xEL84, cathode biased. Producing 3 beautiful watts, this amp excels at touch sensitivity. While most other amps below 5 watts get “grainy and stringy”, the Mini Chief gets angry, like your cousin from down the street after a few too many…this thing is one raucous beast. The tonal range is between small V*x style amps and bigger M*rsh*ll style ones. The Mini Chief also features something seldom seen on mini amps—it has 4, 8, and 16 ohm outputs. This amp is a full on, giggable mini amp, in a beautiful, small box.
For different flavors, the user can swap the preamp tube out. The Mini Chief comes stock with a 12AX7/ECC83 preamp tube. For lower gain, one can use a 12AT7/ECC81, and for the most clean headroom, a 12AU7/ECC82 can be used. These tubes can easily be swapped. We suggest taking your amp to a tech to have the tube swapped, unless you are comfortable working with high voltage--tube amps store high voltage and can kill you, so please do not try this if you do not know what you are doing. Make sure not to touch ANYTHING inside of the amp...and always, make sure that the amp is unplugged from a power source if you are going to try this. If you cannot be sure that you can do this, take your amp to a tech to have the tube swapped out. Again, tube amps can kill you...DO NOT REMOVE THE CHASSIS if you are not sure how to handle an amp safely.
We decided to house it in a simple pine head cabinet, with a milk paint finish that has a NITROCELLULOSE topcoat…that’s right…it’s got nitro on it! This amp will be perfect at your home, the studio, or at small gigs…you could even sneak it into your office, if you’re so daring…we won’t be held responsible for you getting fired or anything like that…just get crafty on sneaking a speaker cab in!

How do I use instant finance?
It's simple! Just add the products you want to your basket and click the "Checkout" button in your basket. Go through the checkout process and tick the "Finance" option under "Select Your Payment Method". You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish.
At the end of the checkout you'll be taken to the V12 Finance web site. This is where your finance application is processed. Assuming your application is accepted you'll be able to place your deposit and confirm your order right there.
Then, your order will come through to Andertons and we'll send you the goods. Get approval before 3pm and we'll send your order out the same working day (stock permitting) for next working day delivery!
Who can apply for finance?
You must: spend over £300, be at least 18 years of age, have been a UK resident for 3 years or more, be able to make repayments by Direct Debit, be in regular employment (minimum of 16 hours per week) including self-employment, or in permanent residence with your partner who is in regular employment.
