Product Description

The Paranormal Series goes far beyond what we think we know about Squier guitars. It embraces forgotten models, dabbles in what could have been, and stirs the pot of familiar Squier specs! With its iconic offset body shape and rich harmonic character, the Squier Jazzmaster XII 12-string electric guitar encourages the most adventurous players to chart a new course of guitar exploration!

Featuring dual Fender-designed alnico single-coil Jazzmaster pickups with 3-way switching and a vintage-inspired "hockey stick" headstock design, this quirky 12-string model doubles down on chimey tones and timeless style. Other player-friendly details include a graphite-reinforced "C"-shaped neck for optimal stability and easy playability, a hybrid strings-through-body/top-load bridge for reliable intonation, vintage-style tuning machines for smooth tuning action, and a gloss neck finish for a slick yet confident feel.

Really good guitar for such a low price - plays well, sounds great, looks brilliant! Why pay megabucks for a 'real' one?

This is going to be long, so the TLDR is this is a brilliant instrument for the price, but needs a fair bit of work to get it that way: THE GOOD: Its an Electric XII in essence, but with more easily sourced Jazzmaster components (i.e. pickups. bridge, scratchplate and selector switch). Sounds and plays well out of the box. Unlike many 12 strings this one is not too neck heavy. The bridge pickup sounds nice and chimey/clear and quite hot, without pushing too far. The neck was very nice/straight and the fret work 9 out of 10 - only minus was they needed a little extra polish to finish off. The neck profile is very comfortable for a 12 string (I own 3 other 12 string instruments) The nut whilst synthetic is actually passable (will replace at some point with bone). Action, intonation and setup was very good considering the price - very little required to make it playable. THE BADish (mostly down to cost saving so not critisism, but things to be aware of if buying one of these): The tuners - these are a chinese clone of Klusons and 3 of the twelve had enough slop in the gears to be audible when playing. Kluson make a left and right hand set which, whilst needing a 8.5mm reamer to widen the headstock holes, are a replaceable (cost ~£84) The electronics - very little shielding (around the pots on the scratchplate only), so very noisy. Added conductive cavity paint and copper tape to the entire scratchplate rear. Cost (~£0 as I have this stuff from making guitars anyway) More electronics - neck pickup is dead, so will need replacing - cost £135 for a Vintage set of Jazzmaster Pickups (Vintera are also available at ~£90) - this should not have got past QC/QA checks. The neck needed a sand down with 800 grit wet and dry to get rid of the stickiness ont he OEM lacquer. THE UGLY (again due to cost saving): The fingerboard was quite pale, as is normal for laurel and dry as a bone. Apply a decent fingerboard oil, which helped darken and moisterise nicely. Lack of matching headstock - here I pushed the boat out a bit and had some Lake Placid Blue nitro laqcuer from another guitar project (12/6 doubleneck), but this guitar being polyurethane, the colours did not match and I had to add a fair bit of red and a bit of black to get it close enough. So maybe ~£10 in paint and clear coat later and hopefully the photo below comes out with the finished instrument. My daughter wants the Olympic White version, so I will have to source a better decal next time ;) See photo for it current but not final form :-)

I just love, does everything that you'd want an electric 12 to do. I used to own a 12-string Fender Strat but this Jazzmaster is much more suited to the whole twelve string thing, maybe it's the pickups, but for me it's got that perfect chime.
