Behringer at NAMM
Behringer seem to tease new releases all year round, with the last few years being particularly hyped up. This year, they officially released their MS-101-RD Synth alongside the VC340 Vocoder. They've also unveiled newer working prototypes of their Pro-1 Dave Smith Clone, RD-808 Rhythm Designer and The Odyssey.
Just when we thought they couldn't possibly announce any more, they went and dropped the Crave. A semi-modular analog monosynth, the Crave sounds like a cross between a Neutron and a DSI Prophet, but it looks set to retail at around the £200 mark - they've done it again.
Casio at NAMM
Casio’s CDP range offers stunning digital piano functionality at a fraction of the cost of many competitors. For NAMM 2019, they've unveiled two new additions: the portable and affordable CDP-S100, and the compact but all-encompassing CDP-S350. Both of these innovative products offer battery power, authentic hammer action and brilliant onboard learning and performance tools.
The Privia range also recieved some new additions - the PX-S1000BK (Black), PX-S1000BK (White) and PX-S3000BK. Arguably the slimmest full-range stage pianos on the market, these battery-powered beasts boast bluetooth audio for the most modern and demanding of musicians.
Nord at NAMM
A curve-ball from Nord this year; they've unveiled their own piano monitors. Carefully voiced to perfectly suit Nord's piano and keyboard sounds, they provide room-filling nearfield sound that's perfect for studio, rehearsal, composition...the works.
Yamaha at NAMM
Yamaha have unveiled two new stage pianos, reportedly to replace their CP4 range. The CP73 and CP88 offer balanced hammer action and natural wood graded hammer action respectively, as well as a comprehensive selection of pro-grade sounds. They've also expanded the user interface for plenty of hands-on controls - perfect for the performing musician.
Yamaha also took the wraps off the latest addition to their Arius range - the YDP 164. Representing excellent value-for-money, this powerful digital piano boasts a number of stunningly-captured piano, organ and string sounds. It didn't end there though, as Yamaha also launched the YDP S54, featuring samples from their flagship Concert Grand Piano.
Korg at NAMM
Korg has unveiled new additions to a number of its ranges for NAMM 2019, including 2 powerful new synth workstations - the Krome EX and Kronos 2 SE. Packed full of amazing new sounds, with the latter featuring a stylish Red Graduation finish and their Flagship Weight Action, these are a couple of strong new contenders for 2019. The new Kross Workstations are also excellent additions, light weight and available in four cool colours - green, orange, red and blue.
Akai at NAMM
88 velocity-sensitive weighted keys, MIDI connectivity with 4 USB outputs, pedal inputs, transpose split and preset selection functions - Akai have introduced the Akai MPK Road 88 keyboard controller. The best bit? It's built into a rugged travel case that can be easily popped open or packed away. Perfect for the musician on the go!
Gamechanger Audio at NAMM
I mean, these guys had to do something pretty special for NAMM - it's what they do. Introducing the Motor Piano, a unique synth that uses actual mechanical motors in place of oscillators. The product is still in the prototype phase - but they've also developed a smaller pedal-size format which looks (and sounds) totally gnarly!
Modal Electronics at NAMM
Modal Electronics are responsible for some of the most mind-bending synths on the market. In keeping with this reputation, they’ve introduced the Skulpt and the CRAFTsynth 2.0; a 32-oscillator 4-voice synth and a portable wavetable desktop synth respectively. Don't be fooled by their compact sizes - these things totally pack a punch! Check out the entire Modal Electronics range here.
Roland at NAMM
Roland has expanded its GO:PIANO range with a brand new 88-key digital piano. Now giving you a full-sized keyboard for ultimate musical expression, this inexpensive yet great-sounding digital piano will surely be a hit in 2019! The new FP-10 digital piano is Roland's entry-level FP Series offering - affordable, 88 keys, authentic sound, compact design. What's not to love?!
