For players looking to cover new ground, the SE SVN 7-String in Grey Black takes familiar PRS aesthetics and playability to new sonic territory. Using the Custom 24 as a platform, this guitar adds a low-B string to offer increased versatility to the player who wants more tonal range. Whether you’re playing rock, jazz, or metal, this guitar provides extended low-end growl, increased chordal variance, and a greater ability to embellish standard chords.
The SE SVN features a beveled maple top with flame maple veneer and mahogany back, a 24-fret, 26.5” scale length maple neck with rosewood fretboard and bird inlays. The electronics package pairs SE 85/15 "S" pickups with a volume, push/pull tone, and 3-way blade switch.
The 85/15 S pickups in this guitar are based on the amazing 85/15 pickups that have been used in many of the American Core line models. Paul Reed Smith has said that these would have been the perfect pickups back in 1985 because they're hot enough to give you all of the gain tones you want but they clean up beautifully too. They offer crystal clean tones but without sounding harsh or spiky.
In the bridge it has high output with great articulation in the midrange. The neck pickup is a lower output level but works really well with crunch tones as well as smooth lead tones.
