Product Description

The TC Electronic AmpWorx High-Gain Series JIMS 800 is a dual-channel guitar preamp pedal. It faithfully recreates the high-octane sound of a modded British "black & gold" valve amplifer from the '80s, but in a convenient and compact stompbox with independent channel controls, a foot-switchable pre/post boost, an official Celestion cab sim IR, and dedicated DI/headphone outputs.

The original tube-driven amp that the JIMS 800 is based on is truly iconic, used by some of the biggest hard rock and metal artists of the last 40 years — including Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society), Kerry King (Slayer) and countless others. Saturated and tight with plenty of mid-range bark, the distinctive "800" tone has been used to great effect on hundreds of influential records. And now, you can get your hands — and feet — on this massive guitar sound but in a far more portable package, and at an affordable price-point to boot!

Key Features

  • Faithfully recreates the tone, touch and feel of a modified JCM800 tube amp.
  • Two channels with independent gain, volume and EQ controls for classic '80s clean, rock and metal tones.
  • Replicates highly sought-after custom shop modifications typically found from legendary amp builders of the '80s, including treble bleed, tonestack tweaks and 2nd-stage gain mods.
  • Integrated booster activates at the kick of a footswitch, with a separate gain control for each channel and global pre/post option.
  • The pre boost is dialled in to drive the amp model harder, and adds a distinct mid hump like a classic "green" overdrive pedal. The post boost setting adds volume without changing your core sound — it just makes it louder!
  • Dedicated DI output, equipped with an official Celestion 4x12" G12-65 cab sim IR, turns your pedalboard into a gig-ready rig that you can plug directly into a PA system, or an audio interface for recording.
  • Headphone output equipped with the very same Celestion cab sim IR, for huge tube amp tones straight to your ears. No more annoying the neighbours!
  • Set-it-and-forget-it master presence control on the rear panel lets you tailor the preamp and compensate for darker or brighter rigs and rooms.
  • An optional bypass mode can be activated by pressing the 'Boost' and 'Channel' footswitches at the same time. This allows you to punch the pedal in whenever you want, if you're using it like a standard stompbox into a guitar amp.
  • Groundbreaking TC AmpWorx modelling technology provides low-latency, huge dynamic range and feels just like the real deal.
  • Perfect, pedalboard-friendly pedal platform takes overdrives like a champ!
  • Designed and engineered in Denmark.

Bought for headphone practice. Better than it has any right to be for the price. Not into high-gain hair metal nonsense, this thing can do nice cleans and takes pedals. More IR options would be great but hard to complain for the price. If you're running into an audio interface you can use a different IR. I don't do silent stage stuff so if you're running into a PA ask someone else...

Great sounding pedal. Chiming cleans on the green channel. Beautiful chewy distortion on the red. Very articulate — notes and chords retained clarity even with the gain cranked.
