Product Description

Squier Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro) Strat in Fiesta Red

There's no such thing as a Jaggy Snake. If you believe Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro that is. The Simon Neil Stratocaster is a must for any Biffy fans or those who love nothing better than a bit of 'slighty-arty' post hardcore! A faithful replication of his famous, Fiesta Red 60s Strat, we think this guitar has some of the coolest looks going and is the perfect choice for challenging yourself with Biffy Clyro's weaving riffs and unusual time signatures.

The guitar's pickups feature a mix of Alnico III and V Magnets to allow you to get that contrast between rich, almost-clean, leads and full on crunch that is open-sounding and clear. This guitar will make you want to scream out one minute, and sing beautiful lullabies the next!

Guitar Magazine Review

"Tweaked pickups give this Squier's low end a tight, focussed Strat snap, and the trebles sound unexpectedly thick"

"The fretwork installation is very impressive, and the choice of a wire that's tall but not too wide or chunky provides a great balance between accurate chord intonation and effortless string bending with a low action."

"Our sample was a breeze to play, and the floating vibrato - a regular moulded-block Squier unit with the addition of bent steel saddles - offers about a whole tone up-bend and good return to pitch."

"Even under scrutiny the price seems low. Affordable, classy, accessible to younger players - it's an exceptional job - 93%"

  • "Plays so sweet it even sees action at Biffy Shows"
  • "It feels tough and professional, tunes up well, and doesn't feel like a £359 axe"
  • "Pound for pound, this is the guitar that gets you closest to the sound of Only Revolutions."
  • "To keen ears, there is increased tonal depth here that's critical for the huge sound of "Mountains", and will give your own riffs a boost even if you hate Biffy."

Let's face it, you want to play Biffy's music and you've noticed this guitar. Will it let you achieve that? Yes, definitely. Does it matter it's only a Squier and not a high-end Fender? No, it doesn't. In the right hands, this instrument is capable of great music, Biffy style and it sounds so promising that I'm definitely going to keep mine. The truth is you can score Biffy's unusual signatures on any instruments, if you get the tone right, but don't let that make you overlook this special. It's so playable, it's dreamy and my fears it was for younger beginners (meaning, smaller size) were unfounded. Fender hasn't hesitated to build a quality machine with quality materials that can be played by fully grown adults, even though it's under £400.
