SKU: IRF-LOUDPEDAL

Product Description

The IRF-LoudPedal is designed to be the sonic centrepiece of your pedalboard setup. Based on Laney's acclaimed Ironheart series of guitar amplifiers, the IRF-LoudPedal is a 60-watt, twin-channel pedal amp with footswitchable boost, a 3-band passive EQ, an FX loop, and a speaker-emulated XLR out. All this, in a compact package that's no bigger than a standard double stompbox!

Laney's IRF-LoudPedal truly is a versatile tone engine that can be used in multiple different ways. Place it in front of your regular amp as a high-quality, two-channel gain stage that can do anything from a sweet clean boost to full-on, searing distortion. Or alternatively, you could use the IRF-LoudPedal directly into a passive cabinet on-stage or in a rehearsal room (like a traditional amp head) where it produces a whopping 60 watts of power! Using the Laney IRF-LoudPedal's onboard cab emulation is another method, which allows you to plug the unit directly into the PA or into your IEM system without even utilising a cabinet. You can also send great guitar tone directly into a DAW with headphones, while an Aux input makes practicing on the tour bus a total breeze!

Channel 1 Gain Character Switch (GCS)

This feature allows for refined control of the distortion characteristics of the channel. Changing the GCS mode will affect how the drive stage reacts and responds. Each setting of the GCS has a sweet spot in which the effect is most noticeable. This tends to be at mid to higher gain levels:

  • Clean: Soft clipping is applied to the drive stage giving the least amount of compression and allowing for a more open tone.
  • Rhythm: This setting provides asymmetrical clipping, adding more distortion whilst retaining some clarity and dynamics.
  • Lead: Symmetrical clipping is applied, giving more aggressive distortion for a high-gain, compressed sound.

Channel 2 Tone Switch

  • Bright: Extends the high frequencies and slightly dulls the low-end.
  • Dark: Boosts the low-end frequencies adding some warmth to the tone whilst reducing the power of the higher frequencies.
  • Off: Middle setting results in no change to your signal from this switch.

3-Band EQ

The Laney IRF-LoudPedal's built-in passive EQ stack allows you to fine-tune your sound. As a starting point, 12 o'clock is the neutral setting for these and will provide you with the most even output.

  • Bass: Adjusts the strength of the low-end response of your output, for a deeper sound when turned clockwise.
  • Middle: Adjusts the strength of the mid-range response of your output, that when turned clockwise gives a fuller sound.
  • Treble: Adjusts the strength of the top-end response of your output. Turning clockwise will boost the brighter, higher notes.

The 3 EQs are all linked, meaning that no matter how you change them, you will always have a musical tone from the pedal. Feel free to experiment and find your favourite sound!

Absolutely blown away by this pedal! It's a two-channel amp head in a pedal, with an AUX in, line out, speaker out, DI out, and headphone out! It has two channels, which can be changed with a simple press of a button and also a Boost button. I use Channel 1 as my clean and Channel 2 as my dirty distortion which sounds fantastic. However, the boost switch doesn't seem to make a hugely noticable difference. This has replaced my bedroom rig, and eventually, will be replacing my live rig, too. I have plugged it into a 2 x 12 speaker cab and it is LOUD! The pedal certainly lives up to it's namesake! I use the DI out with my headphone amp at home and have had no issues. I've not tried the Laney Ironheart Foundy Loudpedal with any effects pedals yet. I haven't rated durability, as I have not gigged with it yet. However, it seems sturdy enough.

This pedal is perfect in every way. It does what it says on the tin. The DI is amazing and I may well ditch my cabs for live gigs. Will leave durability score until it has done some road miles.

Amazing sound in such a compact pedal. I've always wanted an Ironheart and couldn't pass this pedal up. It sounds very close to its big brother in such a compact and convenient size.
