Product Description

The Fender Stratocaster is the world's most popular guitar, renowned for its ergonomic body shape and trio of vibrant-sounding single-coil pickups. This Vintera '70s Strat keeps many coveted features intact that are true to the models which defined the decade; sure to satisfy traditionalists who seek vintage tones and a classic feel. Featuring a thin nitrocellulose finish just like all of the highly sought-after Strats made back in the day, this limited edition model has also undergone Fender's "Road Worn" treatment; giving it the relic'd look and feel of a guitar that's been played for decades!

That's not all though. This particular Fender FSR Vintera Road Worn '70s Stratocaster also comes supercharged with a set of Custom Shop '69' single-coils, which deliver that iconic "Golden Era" Strat sound which has been heard on some of rock's most influential records. Fender have even thrown in a free deluxe gig bag — easily making this one of the best bang-for-your-buck Strats currently on the market!

Timeless Fender Construction

Fender has relied on a favoured tonewood combination for the Vintera '70s Strat. Boasting an Alder body, this medium-weight material keeps things balanced across the frequency spectrum; the perfect tonal foundation for the pokey pickups. The Alder body is joined with a bolt-on Maple neck, bringing out some bright top-end snap that gives the instrument a very responsive and immediate feel.

A time-honoured early '70s "C" profile provides a comfortable feel; slim enough for contemporary players yet thick enough to keep the old-school aficionados happy. Vintage frets also contribute to the nostalgic feel, as well as the period-accurate 7.25" fingerboard radius.

Custom Shop '69 Pickups

For authentic Fender tone, this limited edition FSR '70s Vintera Stratocaster sports three Custom Shop '69 single-coils wired in the USA. Producing some of the most revered guitar sounds in popular music history — the full, punchy late-'60s blues rock tone that ruled the era from Monterey on the West Coast to Woodstock on the East Coast — these "time capsule" pickups will take you back in time to a truly magical era. Because of the clarity and transparency created by the unique coil wind and magnet structure, the '69 pickup design works especially well with pedals; allowing the low-end to thump and the high-end to soar!

Mr. Jon Anderson27th Feb 2024

The Fender 70s Road worn arrived with the strings all out of position. The high e string sitting on the edge of the fret board. The neck looked all wrong in relation to the strings and the fretboard marker dots. The nut was also cut wrong in relation to the string spacings. The action was appallingly high and the fret ends were sharp and uncomfortable. I messaged Andertons who stated that they don't check the guitars or set them up unless you specifically ask them to. So I spent £1200 on a guitar that required the work of a luthier before its fit to play. But hey Andertons gave me £40 credit....

Build quality, neck pocket fit and fret finishing are stellar. Very realistic relic work and I do love the authentic nitro finish. Custom Shop ’69 pickups with tone rolloff on bridge pickup, neck profile are awesome.
