I bought this guitar almost a year ago, and I can confidently say it is one of the best guitar purchases I’ve ever made. I bought this guitar based on the specs which I felt were what I was looking for and straight out of the box it did not disappoint. Firstly, my band plays in drop A# tuning and the first test of any guitar I buy is usually: 1) How well will it hold that tuning? 2) Will it handle the heavier string gauges? The answer to both of those questions is a resounding yes! I typically use a 62 to 13, set with a 68 instead of the 62 for the low string and I have had absolutely zero issues with intunation (if anything it has held it suspiciously well!) and I’m able to get the strings nice and close to the fretboard with a low action and no string/fret buzz at all. What also surprised me was how good the Chapman stock pick ups are. I have continued to use these and have no plans on upgrading them as they are genuinely some of the best sounding pickups I have played through in a very long time. They sound so aggressive through a high gain amplifier but are able to maintain clarity across the fretboard for big chords, no matter whether you’re playing a soft clean tone, or dirty high gain powerhouse. What I also absolutely love about this guitar is how good it looks the finish on the body is absolutely gorgeous. The binding along the edges really does make this guitar look above its price range. But I think the most surprising element that I love about this guitar is the contours on the body which make it ridiculously comfortable to play. My band tries to put on a high energy performance in every show this guitar make that 10 times easier. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a achey back from playing a show since using this guitar. Overall, my experience with this guitar has been incredible, and it feels rewarding to finally have a guitar that feels absolutely right for me. If I was to nitpick anything about this guitar, I’d say the addition of locking tuners would elevate this it, but to be perfectly honest, the stock tuners that it comes with have fared well, and I don’t really have any need to replace them.
