Bring on the Birds

Taking inspiration from birds bursting from a flock the PRS ‘Birds of a Feather’ fingerboard inlays take the original Bird fret markers and elevates it to the ultimate level, perfectly showcasing the Private Stock luthiers' insane attention to detail and demonstrating their unprecedented level of craftsmanship. From about the centre of the fingerboard, the birds break from the flock and swarm up the fingerboard and onto the headstock in a stunning display of elegant beauty.

Wood Choice

When it comes to electric guitars there is one wood combination that is associated the most with the holy grail guitar tones found in popular music. That is of course a Mahogany body with a Maple Top. PRS have again taken things to the next level with this Private Stock Special 22 and constructed the body with Ribbon Mahogany and a transfixing Curly Maple top. Balancing out the resonating tones of the Semi-Hollow body, the Maple top perfectly accentuates the highs for a balanced and even tone.

Ready for Anything

With a total of 12 different combinations thanks to the 5-way switch and 2 coil-splitting mini toggles, this guitar allows you to achieve maximum versatility from one instrument. The 2 LT (Low Turn) 58/15 pickups offer vintage tones, sweet and focused with even lows and highs. Along with the Narrowfield single coil in the middle position, this selection of pickups perfectly brings out the voice of this guitar.

Final Details

No stone is left unturned in the finishing details of this guitar. As you admire the Birds of a Feather fingerboard inlays you will eventually find yourself noticing that even the truss rod cover is actually crafted from Curly Maple and has been stained to blend in with the rest of the intricate design. Flip the guitar over and again you will find that the backplates are also made from Curly Maple.
