Product Description

You have your collection of amps and your home studio set up but there are always ways you can improve quality and workflow. That is where the Two Notes Torpedo Reload comes in handy with all of the tools you need to record, reamp, attenuate and load your amplifiers wonderful sounds into your computer.

So Many Tools

If you are a guitarist with a home studio this is a must have tool as it gives you so many more options on how you want to record your tracks. This little box has so many tools, ins and outs it can take quite a while to make sure it is all explained. First of all you can use this as a DI box to record straight to your system of choice. You can also use this as an amplifier loadbox and attenuator. This means you can send the raw signal of your amplifier directly to the board as well as sending it to a cabinet of your choice. Finally the last part of this setup is the Replay Reamp section that lets you capture the perfect tone every time.

DI Box

This is probably the simplest part of the system. Just plug your guitar in to the input and send the DI Output to your interface. This allows you to record tracks to be amplified later or to use with amp simulation software. This is an extremely valuable tool to have in the studio as it means you can worry about getting the good take now and the tone later.

Loadbox / Attenuator

Ok so this is where this unit gets really interesting. Most loadboxes will allow you to send your amps signal to a cabinet but without any other control. The Torpedo Reload not only lets you essentially change the impedance of your amplifier but also lets you control the volume without having to worry about losing out on power amp saturation or tone.

While some attenuators have gathered a bad reputation for colouring or lowering the quality of your tone the Torpedo is as clean as it can possibly be. By supplying proper speaker level impedance constantly to your amplifier and cabinet you get the full sound and response you would expect out of your amp.

Replay & Match

If you thought it ended there you would be wrong. This system is also a reamp box as well... but it is much smarter than any other reamp box you have ever seen before. This is thanks to the Match function built in to the amp that lets you compare the level of the DI guitar signal coming out of your daw and the guitar in your hands so you are getting the exact sound your guitar would make through this amp.

Here's what Two Notes say about the Torpedo Reload

Two Notes Audio Engineering, creator of the world’s best speaker cabinet simulation, has bridged a new technological gap with the Torpedo Reload, your new high-end device for silent playing and reamplification.

The Reload is the ideal combination of the devices you must have in a modern studio for the recording of electric guitars and basses: a power attenuator, a multi-impedance loadbox, a DI and re-amping box – it does it all and does it perfectly too.
The Two Notes philosophy stands in one word, transparency. The tone must come from your guitar, your amp and cabinet – not from the electronics that we put between parts of your regular setup.

RE-ACTTM: Reactive-Active Attenuator
Attenuators are usually known for the negative impact they have on your tone in cases of heavy attenuation. On the contrary, the Reactive-Active technology presents your amplifier with a consistent speaker’s impedance no matter what level of attenuation you’re at, and thus preserves the specific character of your amplifier. With a choice of 4, 8, or 16 Ohms, your amplifier (up to 150W RMS) will actually see real speaker impedance, and your tone will remain constant throughout the continuous attenuation curve.

Transparency is the key.
The result of years of research, the RE-ACTTM technology (Reactive-Active Attenuator) will tame your amplifier without ever betraying it.
From 0dB attenuation to total silencing, you can nonetheless choose between absolute transparency to more vintage or modern tone coloring with the CONTOUR.

HI-Z DI Box
Plug your guitar into the DI Input and send that signal to your recorder. At that stage what you want is clarity and Two Notes preserves your guitar’s tone, as you will certainly want to re-inject it into your amp through the REPLAYTM.

REPLAY
One of the most interesting options in studios nowadays: play the guitar one day, and mike the amp (or many different amps) another. The Torpedo Reload is your re-amplifying device of choice. The most difficult part in re-amplification techniques is finding the output level on the DAW that matches the level of your guitar when it is directly connected to the amplifier.

MATCH function
This Two Notes innovation is the solution to the problem of level adjustment when re-amplifying. MATCHTM compares the signal as it comes from the guitar (plugged to the DI input) with the signal that has been recorded (and which is sent to the REPLAYTM Line Input) so that what you send the amp is the ideal level only. Now you can be sure that the signal you send from the DAW is exactly what your guitar itself would be sending.

Plug your guitar into the DI Input and send this signal to your recorder. Later on, you can re-send that signal to your amplifier by using re-amping techniques with the Reload‘s REPLAYTM function. To make it perfect, Two Notes has developed the unique MATCHTM function – THE solution to the problem of level adjustment when re-amplifying.

One Device to Rule Them All?
Record your guitar using the DI, send the signal back to your amp using the REPLAYTM, drive your amp the way it should be driven and lower the level or simply make it silent with RE-ACTTM, record the signal from the loadbox, and even use your own microphone and cabinet for a 3rd take – all simultaneously!

The Torpedo Reload comes with the Wall of Sound III plug-in and your first 24 speaker cabinets: in conjunction with the Torpedo Reload and your beloved guitar or bass amplifier, the WoS III plug-in will achieve absolutely true-to-life studio miking of your amp.

We all know that the valves have to be set to "stun" to get a great tone, and being someone who mainly does a lot of home recording, trying to get the amp to where it needed to be would shake the foundations of the house (along with the wife's temper!!). The Torpedo re-load puts all of that to bed. Along with a multitude of other uses (re-amping, DI'ing etc) I can't fault it. I'm chuffed to bits with it!!

This is a quality product backed by an amazing software. Almost all of the cab/mic selections and settings result in a good sound. Therefore the decisions become only a matter of taste, not a matter of quality.

Amazing bit of kit. Transfers the full fat amp sound to my DAW without having to mess with emulated outputs. The cab emulation plugin is superb and the fact that you can run it into the DAW (or the PA desk) and then out to your cab at the same time is fantastic. Yep, there are other load boxes but can they do the same quality job as this?
