Product Description

When Victory launched the V30 earlier this year it became an overnight success with its small portable design and versatile two channel design. Some people though prefer combos over a head and cab setup and others wanted some added in amp reverb. Well both of these requests have been put into the new V45 The Count combo amplifier. Still handmade in the UK on a high quality PCB for not only the best quality build but also the most reliable.

New Combo Design

Inside this amplifier is pretty much the same as its smaller brother the 30w V30 although now it has 10w of extra punching power to give you that little bit more volume. You still get 2 channels of high quality sound that will cover you from rock friendly bright cleans to crunchy high gain distortion without fail.

Unlike a lot of combos that have a single 12" speaker the V45C is small and light making it much easier to get from gig to gig without putting out your back.

What Is Different From The V30?

Apart from this not requiring a separate speaker cabinet there are just a few small differences that opens this amp to be used in a wider range of situations. Firstly the V45 has built in high quality digital reverb that can be hard bypassed so it will not effect your signal at all when turned off. This means it is there for if you need it but if not just keep it off and it will not take away from this handmade true valve amplifier.

Another very cool change is that while the V30 could be played at 30w, 15, 9w or 2w the V45 can be used at 40w, 7w, 1.5 or 0.5w. This makes it much more usable at small venues, in the studio or even at home when dialed all the way down to half a watt.

Just like the V30 this amp still has a series FX loop as well as footswitchable channels so you can access all the sounds you need on the fly.

I was torn between the head/cab version and the combo. But I went with the combo as it suits what I tend to do most of the time, which involves walking through the streets of London from my car to the venue and carrying my amp up steps from a cramped backstage. Plus I like having the reverb which the V30 head does not have. The head and cab are very light when carrying with both hands but since I like to take all my gear in one go the combo was better suited. It's not as light as a Vox AC10 (the new ones which are INCREDIBLY light) but lighter than my previous amp. Although I do think the head and cab look way cooler. As for the sound, it's amazing! And I don't know why, but it makes my guitars sound better than my previous amp (Mesa Boogie Express + 5:50 - which I still love). The only thing I am missing is a solo boost. I have set one up on my pedalboard (EQ pedal in the fx loop) but sometimes I use the amp on its own and a solo boost would come in handy. And if I'm really being picky, I wouldn't mind the knobs being a tad stiffer too. Another small point (and I include this only in the interest of being thorough) is that because the ventilation grills are located directly underneath the handle, the handle is subjected to the heat from inside the amp. This, in itself, is not a problem at all but I have noticed when you are moving the amp after a gig the handle feels slightly elastic and pliable resulting in a very slight 'bounce' in the amp as you walk. So it's not a massive problem but I wonder if it will be an issue in the future. I would hate to be carrying the amp and have the handle snap mid step. One last small point. The cover that comes with it is... well... ok. If you just want something to keep the dust off it's fine. But I gig quite a lot so need something to protect again knocks, weather and potential falls. Also, I think the included cover was actually designed for the Victory 1x12 cab as the opening for the handle is way too big (which, on the V45, exposes the air vents to rain) but looks like it fits the cab handle perfectly. In conclusion, the Victory V45 is a fantastic combo. Small and reasonably light and can be played loud or quiet and has tons of gain (I have mine at about 10 o'clock). Great for lugging one piece around the streets of London. I have a gig at the Roadhouse in Covent Garden tonight and I look forward to turning this bad boy up and pushing those power tubes. P.S. In the picture, please excuse the tape. I glows in the dark when on stage and comes in handy when you need to make adjustments on a dark stage.

intelligent design and features, very big sound from this very compact package, has a myriad of tones from sparkling cleans to skweeling drive. Nice reverb on board too, well worth the money
