A founding member of the legendary rock group Toto, Lukather has also been an in-demand session star over the last four decades — with several high-profile performance and songwriting credits to his name. A user of Music Man guitars since 1993, Steve is rarely seen without his distinctive 'Luke' signature model. And the latest iteration of Lukather's popular artist guitar is arguably his best yet!

The Music Man Luke III keeps the tasteful styling of Lukather's original model intact, as well as the reliable hardware appointments. However, proprietary Music Man pickups give this reinvigorated instrument a fresh voice with more versatility than ever before.

Roasted Maple Neck

All of Music Man's guitars are renowned for having incredibly comfortable neck profiles. The Luke III is no exception, and is certain to keep you playing for hours on end — especially with its smooth, hand-rubbed oiled/waxed finish.

With a stunning figured grain, the Luke III's Maple neck has been roasted to remove all of the natural moisture retained by the wood. This process makes the neck far less vulnerable to warping when exposed to varying climates, ensuring incredible stability. Adorned with a sleek Ebony fingerboard, this guitar's neck is simply a joy to play!

Alder Body

The Luke III's gorgeous neck is joined with a flawlessly-crafted Alder body, serving as the perfect sonic foundation for its powerful pickups. Contoured around the edges, this body rests beautifully against you — making it a great live workhorse. The sculpted neck joint also allows you to easily access all of the Luke III's 22 frets.

Custom Music Man Pickups

Previous versions of the Music Man Luke guitar have come equipped with aftermarket pickups. However, the new Luke III model sports Music Man-designed pickups that ensure plenty of output! While the bridge humbucker is great with overdrive and high-gain, the brilliant Cutlass single-coils are apt for lush-sounding cleans. The 5-way selector switch also allows you to attain various pickup combinations for a wide tonal palette.

One of the coolest things about the Music Man Luke III is it's built-in active preamp. Just push the volume knob down and you'll engage a 12dB gain boost that's perfect for pushing lead lines up in a mix!

High-Quality Hardware

Music Man has fitted its Luke III model with a chrome-plated 'Floating Vintage' tremolo, providing a smooth action and ensuring fantastic tuning stability. At the other end of the instrument you'll find a set of high-quality Schaller locking tuners, enabling you to change strings easily while also decreasing the chance of tuning slips.
