When Gibson President Ted McCarty hired auto designer Ray Dietrich to reimagine the solid body electric guitar in the 1960s, the Firebird was born inspired by the fluid, powerful lines and bold colours that dominated the auto-industry at the time.
The industrial design was a brave departure, while its balance and tone were as "Gibson" as any guitar in the range. Like many of the more adventurous designs from Gibson in the late 50s, such as the Flying V and Explorer, the Firebird was as much a statement of Gibsons commitment to evolve past tradition as it was a reminder that innovation would never displace high quality, great tone and best-of-class performance.
The Firebird gained a cult-level foothold, attracting recognized players such as Johnny Winters, Allen Collins and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. Through time, the Firebird has established itself a s highly regarded blues,rock and slide guitar, a place owed to its unique "aggressive bell-like" tone, feel and visual presence.
The first Firebird to be introduced into the Collectors Choice range from Gibson CUstom is a rarity on several fronts, including its very clean finish and its unusually minimal wear. It's also one of the very, very few Cherry finishes that Gibson applied to a Firebird in the 1960s. The Firebird III, so called due to its chrome hardware, vibrato tailpiece, and two mini-humbucker pickups, features neck through construction, hand-sprayed nitro-cellulose lacquer and meticulous attention to detail when it comes to replication the original. (Serial #235304). Collectors Choice #47, as all guitars in the range, is based on hands-on study of the original and final approval of its accuracy by its current, anonymous owner. Offered in a run of up to 300.

How do I use instant finance?
It's simple! Just add the products you want to your basket and click the "Checkout" button in your basket. Go through the checkout process and tick the "Finance" option under "Select Your Payment Method". You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish.
At the end of the checkout you'll be taken to the V12 Finance web site. This is where your finance application is processed. Assuming your application is accepted you'll be able to place your deposit and confirm your order right there.
Then, your order will come through to Andertons and we'll send you the goods. Get approval before 3pm and we'll send your order out the same working day (stock permitting) for next working day delivery!
Who can apply for finance?
You must: spend over £300, be at least 18 years of age, have been a UK resident for 3 years or more, be able to make repayments by Direct Debit, be in regular employment (minimum of 16 hours per week) including self-employment, or in permanent residence with your partner who is in regular employment.
