Great pedal, some of the sounds are a bit digital and not organic sounding. Also it’s easy to use and user friendly but gigging with it’s difficult to change settings to get different effects outside of memory mode.

Solid piece of kit that’s easy to use with lots of great sounds and effects. Sounds great out of the box, but sounds superb after downloading and tweaking some preset patches from boss tone central. I use this as a headphone amplifier and it’s all I could possibly need. I don’t think the amp models sound as good the real thing but they sound good in there own right.

Chose this because it has good old fashioned knobs instaed of complicated menus to scroll through. The build quality is second to none. A cheaper alternative to a pedal board and perfectly fine for me at home. The built-in presets are subject to taste (not mine) but there's plenty at Tone Central to go at, or on YouTube. Would prefer a conventional on/off switch rather than a press and hold as I use Alexa to turn my stuff on and this requires further intervention to switch on.

Over £1000 worth of Boss pedals in one unit for £200? You just can't go wrong. Some of the amp models are a bit "weak" but some sound great, especially the Fender Bassman.
The effects are super easy to custom and save to the user banks, and the 8 foot switchs work very well. Presets can be polished by simply tweaking the knobs in the highlighted FX group or hit the Manual pedal to give you 8 separate pedals to play with as you see fit.
The USB interface is great too, you can download new sets of presets to store on the unit or use to record direct to a DAW.
The only real niggle is for some reason you really need the Cab Sim on all the time to get the best out of this unit, which is easily done by having something plugged in the rec/headphone out all the time as it keeps the Cab Sim on while using the guitar amp outs. Apart from that it's a great bit of kit.

We got this for our ten year old son who is doing grade 5 Rock & Pop guitar exam soon and required a few pedals. This ticked all the boxes and we are all very impressed with the pedal. The range of effects is amazing and it's really simple to use.

I have very little eyesight and have often struggled with multi FX units in the past due to the complicated menus.
The boss ME 80 has changed this for me. No menus to go through. It's all controlled by knobs which is great for me. I have had to learn where each setting is and I'm still learning. I can't see any of the writing on the pedal but I know if i turn the overdrive select knob so it clicks seven times I will get the metal distortion sound.
Overall I'm extremely happy with this pedal.

The Boss ME-80 is a guitarists dream... multiple effects in a single box. I use this daily now instead of the multiple individual pedals that I used to have to set up each time I play guitar.
Yeah it's pricey, but when you consider the cost of individual pedals... its a no brainer.... just buy one

Boss effects are legendary and always value for money. The ME-80 is a solid and well thought out bit of kit. You really can’t go wrong at this price. I cannot see how you can get this amount of versatility and quality sounds for £200 by buying single pedals. No brainier. There’ll always be the hero guitarists who will insist that the distortion is dodgy compared to a ratt and the wah doesn’t match a Dunlop, but who cares? This is an ideal rig for those of us who just want to get on with playing and experimenting with the different options available. Leave the snobbery to the snobs and the playing to the players.

Didn't want a multi fx that relies on menu driven settings. ME80 is all knob driven and so much easier to tweak. So it's a few years older than the latest units but it still sounds fine to me. There's every effect you could want included plus a pedal. You could spend much more on a single overdrive pedal than this entire cornucopia of sounds. Well pleased with quality and price. Fantastic value for money. Just need to improve my chops now.

The Boss ME-80 is a great multi effects unit. I love the 'analogue' interface through individual knobs and dials, but you also get the benefit of factory presets and saving your own, as well as downloading even more through the Boss Tone Studio.
It may not have quite as many options as some of the more expensive units, but there is a huge selection of effects and enough to keep you busy experimenting for ages. As a bonus, you can run it on batteries and with headphones for a quick and easy practice session.
The sound quality is great and like all Boss products, it's incredibly well built.

Lots of great sounding effects. I use it with headphones so I can practice and play around without disturbing anyone else. Some interesting effects I had not come across before; defretter, electric to acoustic, humbucker to single coil, harmoniser etc. Tuner is really useful. Well built and thankfully with real life knobs to twiddle rather than endless menus. It's just a shame about the user...

Boss are part of Roland group. I have owned many Roland keyboards and rack units and have always been impressed by build quality, ruggedness and quality of sounds. The ME80 does not disappoint in this respect, but in my opinion it sits firmly in "Quality / Budget" bracket, rather than high end professional.

I've tried other other multiple effects units like the Boss GT1, but just couldn't be bothered with the tedious menu settings. So glad that I got the ME80, a separate knob for everything and instant tweakability. It makes all my pedals including my looper redundant

I've replaced £1000 worth of equipment with wires everywhere with this £199 box and only a couple of wires to connect up. The sound is excellent and the effects are great. Easy to program. The switch between manual and memory is really useful as I can add in extra effects on the fly. If I could figure out how to put the compressor at the end of the effects loop it would be perfect.

I needed a few pedals for playing small gigs but didn't want the expense that comes with buying multiple stomp boxes then a friend recommended this. I've got to say that it is awesome value for money, there are tonnes of effects to play with, more than I need but it's been fun messing about with different sounds and combinations. It is very easy to use, just pick an effect, dial in the tones and level and hit the corresponding footswitch. No faffy menus getting in the way. The essentials (reverb, wah, flanger, OD) are decent enough straight from the box but you can transfer tones via USB from the boss website if you so choose. I only gave this 4 stars cos I feel that some of the higher gain amp models and distortion effects sound a bit tinny to my ears. But since I'm playing through a decent valve amp anyway I just bypass the amp models and use the blues driver or boost for a bit of extra kick. All in all, this is a fantastic piece of kit for anyone playing small gigs, messing about in the front room or wanting to create some weird sounds.

I've owned a huge amount of gear down through the years & this is one of the best things I've bought. Really fun & easy to use, instantly tweekable. Everything you could ever need and more. If you have a good amp you might not use the distortions but for the bedroom player to the weekend warrior & even for recording this is a great option, all in one box for very little money.

Great first foray into FX and pedals. Well built, solid unit. Not all amp sims and overdrives are great but delays, reverbs, wah, octave FXs etc are really good, plus little looper function. Can use as you see it - no menus to scroll through, easy to set up and switch sections on or off like they are individual pedals - well done BOSS!

my mate has been using one of these for quite a while now and it works really well, he uses his for our gigs to great effect, there are some pretty good sounds out of the box but it dosent take long to set up a few patches with your own sounds, you can download stuff from the boss website but honestly with so much to go at in the pedal why would you. Learning it takes no time at all. My only gripe is 38 seconds of loop is a wee bit tight, i get it you want to sell loopers but giving 90 seconds or so would allow a better experience and probably sell more loopers to boot.

I used a Blackstar soloist 60, which had a pedal out for drive, reverb and boost. Add to that, phase, sprung wah and delay pedals. Well this can do all of that and more, and it fits into a small bag, plug it straight into the PA. (Which is the way forward anyhow, soon all this 'modelling' will be done on your PC which will be your PA/mixer. All you need then is a drone programmable pedal out. No more lugging about heavy equipment.) Yes the sounds are all but the same, not plastic like they used to be. It's simple! I don't need that many pedals so I use it on manual, which makes it seem to be all the pedals and amp in one box, with the same separate controls. So yeah I never even read the instructions, nothing really changed. One small criticism is the 'wah'. I use a sprung wah, which you can use just to add in more treble, and it's off in the default, so this one is too 'quack quack' for me, and I hate having to stomp it to turn it on. It's strong, well built, yeah great. So.... anyone want to buy a heavy amp and a shed load of pedals?

I'm still fiddling around with all of the possibilities that this great bit of kit offers. It truly is quite intuitive due to the intelligent way Boss has laid everything out. From what I've discovered so far I think that the ME-80 will fulfil all of my needs, and more, for many years to come.

Has all the issues i found of the me70 rectified. Now has more pedals which eliminate the chance of hitting 2 pedals together and ending up in no mans land mid song. These "double press" features are now on their own pedal well out of the way and is more versatile in manual mode as everything can be switched on/of independantly.
