Product Description

The mother of all dreadnaughts, the Martin D-28 is quite probably one of the most influential acoustic guitars in the history of music! Famously championed by Jimmy Page and used on Led Zeppelin albums 2 and 3, it has been heard world wide. Now you can emulate your favorite guitarists and albums with the Sigma DR-28, almost identical in looks and featuring a chrome, grover diecast tuner like the Martin, you will be hard pressed to hear and see the difference.

Superbly built and bursting with tone, the Sigma DR-28 takes "value for money" to the next level! A simple, uncomplicated solid sitka spruce top bound with a humble, white binding means this isn't the most ostentatiously designed guitar in the world, but it is strong, carefully constructed and leaves most of the talking to its exuberant tone.

The Indian rosewood back and sides help support the full, well balanced overall sound of the DR-28, and for a guitar under £350 there is a rich, complex timbre with an excellent attack and sustain. A competitive price matched with attention to detail, makes the Sigma DR-28 Acoustic Guitar very hard to put down!

Here's what Sigma have to say about their company

In the late 1960s the situation for US guitar manufacturers became difficult: guitars that were made in Japan, looking very similar to US guitars, were flooding the market but at a much lower price. These guitars increasingly endangered the US manufacturers dominance on the market, and a few American companies reacted to that development in an appropriate manner: They did not take any legal steps but instead launched a counter offensive. That’s when “Sigma Guitars” was born. In 1970 “SIGMA”, the brandname for acoustic guitars, was launched.

Now a new line of Sigma branded guitars are on the market through AMI Musical Instruments GmbH in Germany.

As a distributor of fine acoustic and classical guitars for over 25 years, it is a great honour that we were able to obtain for some parts of the world the rights of the time-honoured name “Sigma Guitars Est. 1970” as well as the distinct Sigma logo.

Our business partner and guitar manufacturer is one of the most respected makers who has been building outstanding quality guitars for over 20 years.

Sigma Guitars have an excellent, yes even legendary reputation. With outstanding quality both in construction and sound, it is striking but not surprising that there are hardly any second-hand Sigma guitars up for sale. Most owners still swear by their instruments and would never part with them.
