Channelling the legendary legacy of Leo Fender, G&L have produced some of the most exceptional instruments of the 21st Century. The ASAT is a cornerstone of their electric guitar line-up; a US-made T-style guitar that embraces vintage styling and modern functionality in equal measure.
We teamed up with the G&L Custom Shop to take it a step further. This metallic nitro-finished beauty are the pinnacle of G&L playability. Featuring handwound pickups, an eye-popping metal flake finish and pristine hardware, you’ll be spellbound in no time…
Construction
The Custom Shop G&L ASAT Classic features a Swamp Ash body, the wood was used on Leo Fender’s original designs. Expect a well-rounded tone with a slight mid-scoop and spanky top-end. Its medium weight gives it a substantial feel without being too cumbersome, while a subtle rear-body contour ensures maximum comfort, standing or sitting.
The ASAT's bolt-on neck is comprised of Quartersawn Maple with an Indian Rosewood fretboard. Combined with a 9.5” radius and G&L’s Modern Classic profile, this is a highly-refined neck that offers comfort and pronounced, snappy tone in equal measure.
Last but by no means least, we’ve spec’d these guitars with a nitro metal flake finish, complete with matching headstock. If you like your guitars colourful and you’re looking for a heavy dose of glam, look no further!
Electronics & Hardware
Boasting G&L's signature Leo Fender-designed MFD pickups, the Custom Shop ASAT delivers an ultra-clear and articulate sound. These innovative pickups are handwound with a jumbo enclosure – a typically standout bit of engineering. The bridge pickup bites and the neck pickup barks – from hard rock to smooth, resonant cleans in no time.
On the hardware front, G&L's Saddle-Lock bridge features a clever mechanism that essentially stops the string saddles from moving. This ensures even string spacing for improved sustain. Finally, the ASAT's 100% natural bone nut enhances string vibration, whilst allowing them to glide freely so that they don't snag when performing string bends.
