PRS’ reputation has always been impeccable. Since 1985, they have produced high-quality instruments that have been played by countless artists of all different styles. Combining beauty with functionality, their guitars are renowned for their looks, tones, and playability. Every time you pick up a PRS, you will feel inspired.
The 509 model is a newer addition to PRS’ USA Core Line. With 5 pickups yielding 9 different tones, this is considered one of the most versatile guitars in their line-up. Its elegant body design, set-neck construction and high-grade electronics and hardware give you a guitar with quality and sound at the forefront.
The 509 features 5 single-coil pickups, which can be combined and configured differently to achieve a huge range of sounds. The four coils on the outside can be grouped as humbuckers, so that you can achieve ballsy and full-bodied tones that are great for blues or rock. Or you can isolate the coils for glassy S-style tones that are amazing for cleans.
The 509 has been appointed with an innovative switching system - a combination of a 5-way blade switch and two mini-toggle coil-tap switches. This provides you with a wide selection of humbucking and single-coil tones, as well as a blend of both.
Made In Maryland:
Like all USA PRS guitars, this has been made in their Maryland factory. During the building process, they mix the wisdom and skills of their traditional luthiers with the consistency of machines, to make a guitar to the highest quality every time while still keeping that personal hand-made touch.
With a mahogany body and neck, topped with a beautiful figured maple top, this guitar has a balanced sound with a focused midrange that cuts through the mix.
The Neck on this guitar has been cut to the “Pattern Regular” profile. Designed to be thin enough for shredders to enjoy while still being rounded enough for rhythm players to get around, this neck profile is one of the most popular for more modern players and old-school purists alike.
Second To None Hardware:
Not many companies can say that they have spent so long getting their hardware just perfect. PRS are one of the few that can. The PRS Gen III Tremolo and Phase III Locking tuners work together to keep the guitar in tune no matter how extreme you play. Even if you go full on Hendrix, this guitar will still stand its ground.
Here’s what PRS say about the 509:
As one of the most versatile guitars in the PRS lineup, the 509 harnesses the power of 5 pickups to deliver 9 uniquely musical tones. The 509 starts with a 5 single coil platform - with the outside four coils grouped as humbuckers. An innovative switching system (a 5-way blade switch and two mini-toggle coil-tap switches), gives players an array of humbucking, singlecoil, and blended tones.
