PRS SE Zach Myers in Vintage Sunburst2017 Spec
The PRS SE Zach Myers is more than just a signature guitar. This is one of the most sought after guitars in the PRS SE lineup and is the only way to get your hands a on PRS semi hollow singlecut for under a few thousand pounds. No matter what style you play this guitar has something for you especially if you are a fan of more traditional singlecut style guitars.
True Semi Hollow Design
PRS have not just gone and cut a hole in the top of a solid guitar and called it a hollowbody. This guitar has true hollowbody construction with mahogany back and sides and a beautiful flamed maple top. This combination of woods have been used on PRS guitars for decades and it has not failed them yet. The sound you get out of this guitar sounds exactly what a semi hollow PRS should sound like, full and powerful but with that rounded midrange that makes PRS guitars so great.
The Wide Fat Neck
Now this is where it gets a little bit different for PRS lovers. Always the non conformist PRS and Zach chose a 24.5" scale length for this guitar which is half an inch shorter than most PRS guitars and just a 1/4" shorter than traditional singlecuts. This shorter scale length lends itself wonderfully to the feel of this guitar and it makes it just a bit easier to play. You may however want to chuck on some slightly heavier strings than normal just to make sure you still have great string tension.
This mahogany neck has been carved the PRS's 'wide fat' profile so you can really get your hands round this guitar and start digging in with ease. It doesn't end there though, the neck is also satin finished meaning you get a smoother less sticky playing surface so really nothing is getting in your way.
PRS again have knocked it out with a beautiful guitar that will rock any stage in terms of feel, looks and sound. A lot of what helps the sound is the hardware they have loaded into this hoow body. To start out you have the PRS Adjustable Stoptail bridge. This one piece wraparound style bridge is not only solid as a tank so your strings stay in tune but is also completely adjustable so can get perfect intonation every time.
The PRS SE 245 pickups you have in this guitar match the hollowbody singlecut design and short scale length perfectly. They have a warm rounded sound that really does work for pretty much any style. Plus you can just keep on layering on more and more gain without ever losing clarity.
Here's what PRS say about the PRS SE Zach Myers
"I’ve been with PRS for 12 years. This is the best guitar I have ever played," – Zach Myers, Shinedown.
Zach Myers, lead guitarist of the multi-platinum rock band Shinedown, picked up a PRS Custom 22 at the age of fifteen and announced his first SE signature model in 2010. As a guitarist who has rocked PRS on the stage and teched for several PRS bands, Myers has an intimate understanding of how a guitar should feel and what the build quality should be. After months of design and conversations with PRS’s SE team, Zach and PRS are pleased to introduce an all-new SE Zach Myers for 2014.
The 2014 SE Zach Myers features a chambered mahogany body with maple cap, flame maple veneer and single f-hole that provides smooth mid-range tones with a natural, resonant internal reverb. The 22-fret 24.5” scale length wide fat neck boasts a satin finish that gives the guitar a very comfortable, woody, worn-in feel. Additional appointments to the SE Zach Myers signature model include PRS adjustable stoptail bridge, vintage style tuners, and PRS SE 245 pickups paired with two volume and two tone controls and a 3-way toggle pickup switch.
