The Jackson Pro Series SL2 Soloist is an instrument built purely for performance and most importantly - shredding upon! With a raft of high-spec features, including a neck-through construction, compound radius fretboard, high-output Seymour Duncan Distortion Mayhem humbuckers and a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo, this guitar will offer no hindrances.
Formed of a Mahogany body to give heavy riffs all of the low-end grunt they require, this tonewood offers a deep and rich tone that lends itself well to high-gain, and also gives leads plenty of rounded warmth.
Paired with a Maple neck, this bright-sounding wood will help to deliver some top-end snap and definition, giving notes a fast attack and amazing projection in heavy mixes. Reinforced with Graphite, this neck will remain stable even in differing temperatures and conditions, meaning you won't have to tinker with your setup very often at all.
A compound radius fretboard is an excellent, high-end feature of this instrument. Rounded at the lower end of the neck to make chords easier and more comfortable to play, the fretboard flattens out in the higher register to make shredding a total breeze. This also helps to prevent notes from fretting out when performing string bends, making it a very ergonomic design.
With a neck-through construction, this guitar has a truly elegant feel and look. But the perks aren't purely aesthetic, as with a neck-through design you can expect better sustain and a warmer, more-balanced tone overall.
Electronics and Hardware
This beautiful instrument is powered by a pair of super-hot Seymour Duncan Distortion Mayhem humbuckers, effortlessly handling high doses of gain without breaking a sweat. Also clear and vibrant-sounding with clean settings, these pickups are very versatile despite their name. With a three-way switch you can get the pure, unbridled bite of the bridge pickup, the smooth and creamy tone of the neck pickup for leads, or a combination of both for more balanced cleans.
A double-locking Floyd Rose FRT-O1000 tremolo will keep this guitar in tune incredibly well, no matter how extreme your divebombs might be! And with a recessed design, you can perform crazy flutters and over-the-top raised squealies, perfect for chaotic-sounding effects.
Here's what Jackson say about the Pro Series SL2 Soloist in Gloss Black:
Engineered from its inception for high speed, technically demanding guitar playing the Pro Series Soloist™ SL2 is a purebred shred machine. The fine minds at Jackson put their heads together and created the next evolution of innovative guitars, melding sound, playability and ultra-modern style into a unique music machine that redefines metal prowess.
Premium features include a resonant mahogany body and a onepiece through-body maple neck with scarf joint and graphite reinforcement rods to provide stiffness and stability, guarding against temperature- and humidity-induced bending and warping. The SL2’s 12”-16” compound radius bound ebony fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets is designed for highly technical lightspeed playing— more curved by the nut for comfortable chording, it flattens out as you move up the neck (with hand-rubbed oil back finish) for increasingly fast playing speed and wide bends without fretting out.
Chosen specifically for their incredible sound, a pair of modern Seymour Duncan® Distortion Mayhem humbucking pickups drives this guitar’s voice, combining for highly balanced, flexible tone, with plenty of high output for pristine cleans and snarling distortion. Single volume and tone controls shape the pickups’ output, which can be further refined with the three-way pickup toggle switch for the precise voice required to bring your musical vision to life. Dive and soar expressively with the Floyd Rose® 1000 series doublelocking tremolo bridge system, recessed for pick hand comfort and providing laser-accurate intonation and ultra-stable tuning.
All the famous Jackson appointments are offered with the SL2— black nickel or chrome hardware, sealed die-cast tuners, alumiloid piranha inlays and Jackson’s signature pointed 6-in-line headstock.
