Despite featuring a single P90 bridge pickup, you can get a whole range of sounds from the GS1 Single Cut. Its single P90 produces a powerful, punchy tone – amazing if you play punk or classic rock.

You can use the volume knob to remove some grit if you’re running through an overdriven amp. Turn it down for a cleaner and more organic sound (perfect for rhythm playing), and crank it all the way up when it’s time for your solo!

Use the tone control to cut some treble from your sound. Turn this down to produce a less piercing, smoother tone – great for blues.

Its single-cutaway design and wrap-around bridge give you that classic old-school 50’s vibe, catching the eye of anyone in the audience with good taste (and memory!).

The P90 is a bright and sometimes harsh-sounding pickup, needing to be balanced with the right tonewoods. This is why Gordon Smith used a Cedar body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard, serving as a great foundation for the pokey P90. Cedar is typically a dark and warm tone wood, so any brittle top-end from the P90 is reduced thanks to this well-thought out choice of woods.

You get a solid, resonant sound thanks to the GS1’s set-neck construction. This makes the guitar feel robust and also provides you with more sustain and warmth. You can also play effortlessly thanks to the thin neck profile and wide frets.
