The Laney CUB212R is the larger brother of the very popular CUB12R all valve guitar amp. With a single channel this amp can go from beautiful cleans to nice, crunchy drives all with just your guitars volume control. If British Blues and Rock tones are what you are after you can't go wrong with an amp like this.
Single Channel Drive
While plenty of guitarists have moved on to larger multi channel amps there is a certain beauty in the tone you get from really pushing a single channel amp like this. The gain control here goes from a soft clean to classic rock lead on the 15w mode no problem at all. If you really want to get the most out of those power amp tubes though you want to plug in to the <1w mode. This makes the amp break up a little bit earlier letting you get an extra bit of drive without needing to annoy neighbours.
2x12" For Extra Low End
There is not that much difference internally between the CUB12R and the CUB212R. The big difference has to be the second 12" speaker in the case which allows you to get a bit of extra low end punch out of amp as well as some extra volume in the room.
Tilt It Back!
One of the biggest problems people have with straight combos and cabs is that they are not pointed the one place they need to...your ears. A direct line between the speakers and your ears gives you the best interpretation of your tone and lets you adjust it to sound better with a mic. Luckily this combo has you covered no matter if you want a straight facing cab or a slightly lifted sound.
Just start angling the combo back and you will see a small set of metal legs near the front of the amp. Pop these out and the amp will sit tilted, at an angle to help you get the best possible sound, straight to your ears.
