Rickenbacker's iconic 4003 shape is recognisable amongst classic and modern players alike - and serves up more tonal flexibility than ever before. These are the basses that helped form iconic rock tone throughout the 20th century. It has the capability to push boundaries once again, boasting a number of intuitive design specs.
Construction
The 4003 is a quality instrument made using a high grade sturdy maple body and neck. It looks slick, plays supremely smoothly and will last a lifetime of playing. Its exquisite Caribbean rosewood fingerboard adds a hint of retro vibe. The neck through body construction aids sustain and resonance across the instrument, providing a dynamic playing experience.
Sound
This is where Rickenbacker take things to the next level. With the 4003, you don't just have to hold down the bass line. Get creative with two outputs jacks you can use in a variety of ways. Run your signal in two separate stereo paths using the Rick-O-Sound mod, splitting the pickups for an expansive earthy sound. Layer each signal with various effects for ambient soundscapes.
Use the push/pull modifications to diversify your tone. The vintage setting has all the scooped full frequency sound you'd want for classic rock, while the modern position produces plenty of presence and controlled aggression.
