The Darkglass Microtubes B3K is an incredibly powerful bass overdrive pedal that has the goal of mixing up perfect amounts of brutality and clarity. With its big brother the B7K being used in studios and on stages all over the world the B3K is the best way to get that same articulate drive in a smaller, more compact format.
Simple Set Up
With just 3 controls and a couple of switches it is easy to get anything from a smooth mid gain tone to crushing metal high gain. The Level, Drive and Blend all work as you would expect for an overdrive pedal but the Grunt and Attack switches do offer something different. The Grunt switch sets the amount of low end saturation you get by boosting the low end before the clipping stage. The Attack does the opposite setting the amount of high end saturation but wither boosting or cutting the high end before it hits the clipping stage.
From Slight Boost To Insane Gain
This really is a bass pedal for all styles of players. Although it is best known for its high gain power you can also get some great low to mid gain tones as well using the Grunt and Attack switches as well as the Gain control to dial in some great rock tones for any situation.
Here's what Darkglass say about the Microtubes B3K Bass Overdrive
You have acquired an unusual tool. A perfect combination of brutality and clarity, the Microtubes B3K delivers defined and powerful saturation in an intuitive format. There are no rules and no limits, so dig in and unleash your tone.
Sets the volume of the overdriven signal.
Sets the amount of saturation in the overdriven signal.
Mixes the clean input signal with the overdriven signal. The clean signal remains at unity gain while the volume of the overdriven signal is set by the Level knob, allowing for fine control of the blend ratio.
Sets the amount of low frequency content to saturate by selecting between three different bass boost levels before the clipping stage.
Sets the amount of treble content to saturate: The "Boost" setting emphasizes the treble content extra clarity and presence. The "Flat" position leaves this register untouched while the "Cut" position will reduce the amount of high frequencies being saturated. This new addition helps to keep the treble portion of the signal under control, specially useful when playing with new strings and/or cabinets with tweeters!
