When compared to the soprano and concert, they’re noticeably bigger. This construction results in excellent levels of sustain and a louder sound. These features make tenors the preferred choice of most professional players. However, the increased length produces a higher string tension which in turn makes them harder to strum than other types of uke’s. If you’re a beginner, you’d be better off going with a concert or soprano.
