Yamaha APX1200 MkII Electric Acoustic Guitar in Translucent Black

The Yamaha APX range changes what we thought an acoustic guitar would feel like. With their slim bodies, smooth deep cutaway and easy to play the APX line soon became one of the most popular electro acoustic series in the world. What was missing for a little while though was a high end premium version that comes with all the bells and whistles. Well now you can get your hands on just that with this Yamaha APX1200 MkII in Natural.

So Solid (Woods)!

Most of the APX line features some level of laminated woods but this model though, the premium model, features all solid woods for a clearer, higher quality sound that will amplify beautifully. For the top you have a piece of solid spruce while the back and sides are made from solid rosewood. This classic wood combination is highly desirable thanks to its well balanced sound that works great for pretty much any style. It also helps that solid rosewood looks amazing when contrasted with a light coloured spruce top. To make sure the neck is stable and doesn't move at all in transit it has been made out of Mahogany with an ebony fingerboard that is extremely easy to play. Ebony is known for being dark and colour and very smooth so that nothing can get in the way of you playing what you want to play.

Fantastic Electronics

So you can sound just as good live as in the studio the APX1200 MkII features Yamaha's own SRT preamp and pickup system. By placing pickups under the saddle with individual elements for each string you can hear ever little nuance in your playing when plugged in. They key to what makes the SRT so special though is the preamp. Not only do you get your standard three band EQ, master volume control, anti feedback frequency and tuner but you will also find a section that is dedicated to improving the overall quality of the sound you hear.

These SRT controls consist of type, focus, resonance and blend all of which open you up to a world of miked up acoustic guitar sounds without needing a microphone. Under saddle pickup systems are known for working great but not without some frequency issues. Normally the sound is quite tinny and harsh especial when you go up into the higher ranges of the guitar. SRT fixes this as it evens out the sound making sure you get the same balanced sound acoustically and electronically.
