Product Description

The Smalls Overrated Special from Way Huge takes the Overrated Special and downsizes it, giving you the same sounds in a more pedalboard-friendly unit!

The Overrated Special was designed by the mind behind Way Huge, Jeorge Tripps, and modern Blues legend, Joe Bonamassa. Jeorge essentially modded a Green Rhino OD pedal to emphasise the mid-range and added a frequency control for controlling lower-mids.

Versatile Sounds

The Smalls Overrated Special has that classic mid-range boosted overdrive sound that's prominent amongst Blues and Rock guitarists. Into a clean amp, this pedal offers warm drive to moderate crunch. However, where this pedal truly shines is when its put in front of an already driven amp, producing soaring gain and sustain, perfect screeching blues leads and heavier rock styles.

Intuitive Controls

This pedal has a fairly simple control scheme allowing you to quickly and easily find your desired tone. The two main knobs, "Volume" and "Gain", and the smaller "Tone" knob, are all fairly self-explanatory. The "Freq" knob, however, is a very handy addition for shaping your drive and basically acts as a lower midrange boost for a punchier tone.

Here's What Way Huge Say About the Smalls Overrated Special:

Designed in conjunction with bluesman Joe Bonamassa, the Way Huge Smalls Overrated Special Overdrive delivers a range of bold, punchy grit. Jeorge Tripps took an old school Green Rhino OD, hot-rodded it for a more pronounced midrange, and added a Freq control so that you can punch up the low mids. Volume, Tone, and Drive controls round out a straightforward user interface so you can plug in and get right to it. Run the Overrated Special OD in front of a clean amp for a gritty boost, or slam an already distorted channel for an electrifying surge of gain and sustain worthy of Joe Bonamassa’s searing leads. Now in a Way Huge Smalls housing, this little box of dirt will find an easy home on your pedalboard.

Excellent drive pedal, it adds dirt to a clean amp but really works best when added to an already cooking valve amp, set everything to 12 & just tweak for the room. I have it set up against a JRAD Archer iKon Klon clone & it adds another flavour.
