Product Description

What if Fender instead of focusing in on the clean valve sounds they are known for today went for something more aggressive- We will never really know what would have happened but the guys at Fender have come up with what they may have released in the 60's and 70's had they gone down that route. That series is the Bassbreaker and this model the Bassbreaker 45 is the flagship design with 45w of all valve power.

Built On a Legend

While Fender could have started from fresh they instead used classic circuits from their long history of amps and modified them to fit in with the rock, gain style.

This amplifier was designed with a modified '59 Bassman circuit. By changing out default valves for EL34 tubes and upping the gain just slightly. These small tweaks gave the amp the power it needs to handle almost any blues or rock style.

The sound could almost be described as British as a lot of the rock amp makers from Britain did similar mods to Fender amps back in the 50's and 60's. This means it has a more aggressive and sharper midrange that many would not expect to hear out of a Fender amplifier.

Single Channel, All The Tones

Even with just one channel this amp can do a lot. With 3 different inputs (normal, bright and both for extra gain) separate volume controls, variable wattage output as well as a three band EQ and master presence control you have a lot of options.

One of the more interesting controls on this amp is the variable wattage output which almost acts as your volume control. The volume controls more like a traditional gain control but they do also make a significant difference to the output of the amp.

From 1w to 45w you can dial in your tone anywhere from the bedroom to a large stage or even the studio without missing out on that stunning power amp tube saturation that everybody is after.

Here's what Fender say about the Bassbreaker 45 Head

The late-'50s tweed-covered Fender Bassman is often called "the grandfather of all amps." It is beloved by guitarists worldwide for its simplicity, versatility, dynamic range, warm tube overdrive, stage-filling power and rugged roadworthiness.

Bassbreaker series guitar amplifiers continue Fender's storied lineage with a kind of "parallel evolution" that evokes the dawn of hard rock. Bassbreaker takes the original Bassman design and breaks away with features including dark gray lacquered tweed covering, refined pointer knobs and unique circuitry plus power tubes and speakers hinting at the U.K. amps that "borrowed" Fender circuits in the 1960s. The sound is one of pure tube greatness.

The Bassbreaker 45 is the 45-watt flagship model that leads a first-rate lineup of lower-wattage models, all with pro-level tone and performance for today's rock players.
