ThorpyFX Unveils the Dane Overdrive Pedal!

Designed in conjunction with everyone's favourite Danish Guitar God, The Dane offers dual overdrive and boost functionality, a simple interface and a typically rugged enclosure – and yes, it’s purple!

Danish Pete’s Signature Pedal

Pete Honore has made a name for himself on Andertons TV. Known primarily for his uncanny ability to bounce between silky smooth jazz-blues and red-hot rock soloing, he’s also got a reputation for squeezing great tones out of just about anything.

It’s only natural, therefore, that he teamed up with British manufacturer ThorpyFX to produce a pedal that encompasses his tonal palette: The Dane Dual Overdrive & Boost. Read on for the full lowdown…

Dual Functionality

ThorpyFX’s stompboxes are pretty highly-rated on the UK scene, and are gradually making waves abroad. Pete was initially blown away by the Gunshot and Peacekeeper, so he couldn’t resist approaching Adrian Thorpe for a chat. Pete wanted a pedal that combined ThorpyFX’s responsive circuitry, simple but diverse tweaking options and a transparent drive that beautifully complements any tone.

The result is The Dane. Boasting both a transparent, dynamic overdrive and a boost that sharpens and fattens your sound simultaneously. A simple 5-control interface allows plenty of tweaking without compromising the fundamental sound of The Dane, including the ‘Lows’ control which beefs up your single-coil twang. The boost also works in correspondence with the overdrive channel (which comes after it in the chain), resulting in a wholly organic, responsive sound that’s bound to turn heads. Expect the perfect mix of clarity, fizz and full-fat punch.

Key Features

  • Transparent and dynamic overdrive that works perfectly as your standalone dirt or to push the front of a valve amp
  • A boost setting that tips your sound over the edge when you need it. This also pushes the overdrive channel for a warm, responsive breakup.
  • The Drive control determines the amount of dirt; tweak in conjunction with the boost and volume controls for spectacular Scandinavian sizzle!
  • The Boost control determines the volume of the boost setting and how hard it pushes the overdrive channel
  • Volume & Tone controls allow you to tweak the amount of headroom and the flavour of the EQ respectively
  • The Lows control adds weight to your low-end, brilliant for fattening up a single-coil sound

Rugged Steel Enclosure

ThorpyFX produces pedals that sound great, there’s no doubt about that. But they’re arguably just as recognisable by their sturdy steel enclosures. The Dane is no exception; with a chrome exterior and perforated purple wings, this pedal looks as insane as it sounds.

Thorpy and Pete couldn’t resist adding a little extra Nordic charm. A Viking helmet design and runic lettering decorate the face of the pedal. The final touch is a smaller footprint; the Dane is slightly more compact than its Thorpy brethren, the same size as a standard double pedal. Room for one more?

About Danish Pete

First of all, yes, Pete is in fact Danish. Peter Honore originally hailed from Denmark, land of pastries, Carlsberg and really happy people according to multiple studies. Pete has enjoyed a colourful career touring the world with some of the biggest artists on the planet; Girls Aloud, Westlife, Tom Jones and Lionel Richie, to name a handful.

When he wasn’t performing to packed-out stadiums on the international circuit, Pete worked closely with some of the biggest brands in the industry, including Boss, Mesa Boogie, Ernie Ball and many more. Now he resides in London and is in charge of delivering top-notch videos on Andertons TV. He likes Hawaiian shirts, John Mayer and the colour purple.
