Product Description

Named after the guitar shop where Taylor Guitars started in 1974, the appropriately titled American Dream series is Taylor’s entry-point for those looking for an American-made, all-solid wood acoustic guitar. Featuring Taylor’s innovative V-Class bracing, Grand Concert body shape, and rich all-solid wood tone; the AD22e’s affordability doesn’t come at the cost of Taylor’s signature sound and craftsmanship. Finished off with clean appointments, the AD22e includes the ES2 pickup and ships with a lightweight, yet super-durable AeroCase.

Grand Concert Body Shape

The small-body Grand Concert debuted in 1984 to meet the needs of a new wave of adventurous acoustic fingerstyle players. In contrast to the traditionally darker, boomier voices of bigger body styles like dreadnoughts and jumbos, the GC’s compact size and tapered waist kept the overtones in check. It was also more comfortable to play while sitting down, and the guitar’s slightly wider neck gave players more room for complex fingerings. The GC’s smaller sonic footprint also fit cleanly in a mix with other instruments when tracking in the studio and with a band on stage, making it a useful tool for professional session and side players. Our current generation of GC models continues to accommodate fingerstylists with finger-friendly traits like a shorter 24 7/8-inch scale length, which makes fretting easier and adds a slightly slinkier feel on the strings due to the lighter string tension. If you feel more comfortable with a small body or favor controlled overtones, a Grand Concert is a great option.

The smallest of Taylor’s full-size body shapes. Its compact dimensions make for a physically comfortable guitar with an intimate feel and sound. The smaller footprint keeps the overtones in check, contributing to a focused, articulate sound that’s well-suited for recording and stage work.

V-Class Bracing

The American Dream series also makes use of Taylor’s V-Class bracing. When it comes to bracing an acoustic guitar top there’s usually a trade-off between volume and sustain. Head designer Andy Powers set out to change that with V-Class bracing. With V-Class, the top is flexible in some places and stiff in others so you can get the best of both worlds. The result is a guitar that's loud, has plenty of sustain, and has the added benefit of improved intonation.

All-Solid Wood Body

For a rich and complex tonal character, the American Dream series features an all-solid wood body. The AD22e features solid sapele back and sides with a solid mahogany top. This combination of woods resonate with a warm, woody voice, offering clear highs and a robust low-end but with a bit more midrange emphasis. These tonewoods, in combination with the Grand Concert body shape and V-Class bracing, make for a highly versatile guitar that’ll handle anything you throw at it.

Expression System® 2

The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.
