Product Description

Marrying the warmth of its mahogany and Urban Ash tonewoods with the bold sound of its Grand Symphony body shape, the Taylor 326ce offers a rich and full sounding acoustic tone. Featuring the new environmentally-conscious Urban Ash tonewood, a Grand Symphony body, innovative V-Class bracing for volume and sustain, as well as Taylor's premier ES2 electronics, the 326ce is truly an impressive piece of craftsmanship.

Unique Tonewoods

The 326ce features a new tonewood in the Taylor lineup, Urban Ash. Continuing Taylor's commitment to sustainability, Urban Ash comes from Shamel ash trees that are cut down in southern California's cities and suburbs. These trees would normally go into landfill, however, Taylor are recycling them into tonewoods for guitars instead. Make no mistake, the use of Urban Ash is not simply environmentalism. Andy Powers, Taylor's master designer, was impressed by Urban Ash's properties, believing it to be a premium quality tonewood.

Solid Urban Ash is used for the back and sides of the 326ce and provides a tone similar to high-quality mahogany. Taylor pairs this with a solid mahogany top and the result is a guitar that has a warm tone with an excellent punchy midrange response and deep bass.

Grand Symphony Body

The 326ce utilises Taylor's Grand Symphony body shape. The Grand Symphony is similar to Taylor’s popular Grand Auditorium but with a slightly wider waist and larger lower bout. These changes result in a bigger, richer sound that emphasises the bass and thickens up the treble, a great complement to the punchy midrange of the tonewoods. The Grand Symphony is louder and fuller but doesn’t sacrifice the versatility of the body style so it works well for strumming, flatpicking, and fingerpicking alike.

The Grand Symphony also has a scoop cutaway with a soundport. This style of cutaway maintains a full-sized back to retain that full sound and the soundport makes for a more three-dimensional, almost surround sound effect which further adds to the richness and fullness of the sound.

This model features Taylor's innovative V-Class bracing which strikes the balance between volume and sustain, allowing the notes to ring out and last longer. An added benefit is improved intonation as the top vibrates more in tune with strings.

ES2 Electronics

The 326ce features Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup system. Unlike a traditional undersaddle piezo pickup, the ES2 is located behind the bridge with three individually calibrated pickup sensors. The result is a greater dynamic range and less "squashed" sound from your pickup tone. The preamp is simple but effective with just volume, treble and bass controls for shaping your sound. There's also an interior phase switch to help reduce low-frequency feedback. Whether you're performing live into an amp or PA or you're recording into an audio interface the 326ce is ready to plug-in-and-play right out of the box!
