The Tama Starclassic has been a drumming staple now since 1994 - with further innovation and percussion enhancements with every new release. Combining value for money with professional-grade performance and tonal variety, these drums sound just as good as they look. Speaking of looks, a Caramel Aurora finish, augmented with chrome hardware turns heads no matter where you are on the stage.
Shell Construction
Use of a hybrid shell continues with the latest Starclassic Performer. This construction decision results in layered sounds and complex dynamics that sometimes aren't present with other types of shell. In this instance, maple and birch have been combined to create a powerful and intriguing set of sonics.
This pair of woods is characterised by the clarity and crispness of the birch, and the warmer tones of the maple. As a result, balance and articulation are present with every single strike.
They're complimented by the Evans G1 coated batter and Tama clear single-ply Power Craft II resonant heads found on each of the toms. These sit well with the punch of the Evans clear EQ4 batter heads on the bass drum.
Engineering Additions
Each tom can sit closer to one another due to an improved sleek and streamlined design. The Star-Cast Mounting System also delivers better stability - even when subjected to the hardest of hitters - as well as better resonance.
Zinc die-cast hoops make the tuning process far easier. They also make it a lot more consistent, allowing you to spend more time playing and less time tuning! That's not all though; you'll also get more resonant highs, aggressive rim shots and a crisp attack.
