Squier Starcaster Guitars

Originally made by parent brand Fender in the mid-'70s, the Starcaster is back with a bang. Available in Squier's 'Contemporary' range and the ever-popular 'Classic Vibe' series, this semi-hollow oddball is more diverse than ever before!

Squier Starcaster Guitars

The Starcaster was one of the earliest semi-hollow guitars ever made by Fender, launched in 1976 and designed to rival Gibson's popular ES-335. However, these were produced during a time when Fender's standards had dropped significantly; meaning that originals couldn't match the higher quality of Gibson's offerings. Discontinued by Fender in 1982 due to low demand, the Starcaster was resurrected from 2013. And now, it's available almost exclusively in the affordable Squier catalogue.

The Classic Vibe Starcaster respects the original formula the most, with all of the '70s-style trimmings still intact; including an all-Maple construction, covered humbuckers and old-school finish options. The Affinity is the most budget-friendly Starcaster available, with a stripped back aesthetic that makes it perfect for beginners. If you want something truly bold though, the Squier Contemporary Starcaster boasts active high-output pickups and features a sealed semi-hollow body (meaning no visible F-holes).
